About this listen

Following the assassination of Senator Maybelle, widespread rioting and unrest transform the presidential campaign into a lethal circus. With protests raging over the new bill, the government scrambles to restore peace and order.

Armed with a probationary private investigation license, Janette and her friends race against time to prevent the next murder. On the surface, the motive for the killings seems simple enough: the senate bill, if passed, would transform the United States into a militant dictatorship.

As hostilities around the nation intensify and the pressure of the investigation strains Janette’s relationships with her family and friends, she learns loyalty only goes so far, friendships are as easily forged as they are broken, and justice means little to those determined to preserve their personal liberties.

But when a murder attempt turns into a kidnapping, she’s left with one choice: uncover the truth, or die trying.

enjoyable sequel to Booked for Murder

Warning: This is the second book/audiobook in a series arc and does refer to things learned in the first book/audiobook.

So. Once I got used to the world setting in the first Vigilante Magical Librarians book (includes magic, but it's different from other R.J. Blain series), I loved the characters and the plot. This sequel is the continuation of events that occured in the first book, is just as interesting, and adds more to the ongoing mystery (what's going on?, why did this or that plot twist happen?, etc.). Seriously looking forward to what happens in the next book/audiobook!

Note: I know that the series has had some bad reviews, which seem to center on the books not not being part of another series that Ms. Blain is better known for. But I'm not sure why that's a problem. After all, authors rarely restrict themselves to one series, no matter how much readers might wish that they did. Why not just enjoy it (or not) for what it is and leave it at that?

Janette and Bradley : Part 2

Booked for kidnapping by RJ Blain has to be read after Booked for Murder. The narrator does a better job in this book as the characters don’t sound so preachy as they did in book 1. The plot is pretty convoluted. I am glad I read them but they are not as good as the Magical Romantic Series with a Body Count.
