Publisher's Summary

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout comes the thrilling conclusion to her beloved Flesh and Fire series…

The line between love and obsession has never been wider.

While Sera is finally free of Kolis and back with those she loves, not everything is calm. Memories of all she’s endured still haunt her, but Sera finally has hope for a future with the other half of her heart and soul. Nyktos desires, loves, and accepts every part of her—even the monstrous bits she still battles.

More than ever, Sera and Ash have everything under the realms to fight for, and Nyktos has no doubt Sera is fit to be the Queen of the Gods. But she must find that faith within herself if they hope to convince the other Courts to support them against Kolis and make Iliseeum and the mortal realm better, safer places for all.

But as Sera begins to piece together the importance of her bloodline and the true meaning behind the foreboding prophecy, it becomes clear that everything that has happened and is yet to come is much bigger than Kolis and his dark obsessions.

They cannot help but wonder exactly how much influence the Fates have had and what their ultimate goal is. What Sera does know for sure is that they can trust very few—including her.

A battle between the gods is brewing, and heartbreaking losses are imminent with the true Primal of Death strengthening. With a family of the heart willing to battle by their side, can Sera and Nyktos stop Kolis before he destroys the realms, or will it all disappear in a fiery inferno of blood and ash?

And the line between justice and vengeance has never been so thin.

Great narration

I found this novel a bit tedious to get through. it wasn't bad but I did find that there were too many sexual fillers. We know that they have a hot relationship so the intimate details actually took away from the story line and seemed to be 'fillers' that didn't contribute to the story.
the narration however was terrific!

Meh

Nothing really happens in this book. I thought we were going to have a connection to poppy but it feels like a whole lot of nothing. It was kind of boring and drawn out. Anyone else feel that way? The ending was so weird. The chapter with Ash and then the fates. I dunno. Not my fav. Hopefully the last book of poppy’s series is better.

The depth of love that the two of them had for each other

The sex scenes were great in the first part of their live storey but then it became too much in this book. The storyline was intense throughout these four books and each one leaving us wanting more. I love the love story with the battle all around them and I loved that what we all wanted as readers happened!

Wow 🤯 that was amazing!

Honestly I just finished the book and I’m in awe. I know I’m definitely going to be in a book hangover after this!

After a Fire in the Flesh and the things Sera went through especially her imprisonment and lack of control and helplessness, this book handles all her messy emotions beautifully!

I’ve read lots of books where characters experience physical or sexual abuse, unfortunately some authors I believe just throw it in for something edgy or for shock value. Yet Jennifer so perfectly describes what many survivors go through on the other side of it.

Sera goes through all the different stages and when she finally opens up it’s heartbreaking but so liberating. This book so perfectly captures what it’s like to live with trauma.

The first half of the book can be considered slower as Sera deals with everything and try’s to discover who she now is. But man the second 1/2 of the book is very action packed.

We learn so much!! And it just makes me even more excited for the next book!

I’m sad this part of the story is over, Ash is my favourite book boyfriend!

This is my favourite book series I’ve ever read!

3.5 stars

This was a nice conclusion to the series. I love Sera and Nyktos and their love story. this book had a VERY slow start, and some of that felt irrelevant to the story, but I did enjoy the book overall. can't wait to see what happens withwirh Colice and Poppy in the final battle!

AMAZING! 🤩

It was everything i expected and more… at the beginning it felt quite drawn out but once it got going, I couldn’t put it down.
I’m looking forward to the continuation of the story with Poppy.
Stina’s performance was stellar! I couldn’t tell she was “everyone” in the story. Incredible talent and skills!

All the feels! 10 stars!

I have almost 200 audiobooks in my library, and this series is my absolute favourite.
JLA writes so beautifully, I love the dialogue, and that sometimes I have to pause to google a word definition.
The voice actress Stina Nielsen is amazing, as always!

Entire chapters that could have been a sentence.

I struggle so much with JLA’s books. I’m so intrigued by the stories so I suffer through the repetitive prose that quite frankly insults the reader by assuming we’re too dumb to connect dots and understand nuance. The audiobook is 37+ hours and 9 hours in there was enough actual content to fill maybe 2-3 solid plot forward chapters.

I’m by no means a prude, I love a good smutty book like no one else, but when it’s just being used to fill literal pages interspersed with the FMC’s anxiety attacks and need for reassurance and rambling inner monologues, there’s no actual story happening. I love that the FMC struggles with anxiety and a lack of self confidence but it’s the same thing over and over and over and I believe there are a million ways the author could have conveyed the repetition that is irrational anxiety without literally repeating the same interactions between Sera and Ash over and over.

Overall it felt like this book (and a solid chunk of the last one) were just filler amongst what could have been an excellent story. This one finally got going just after the halfway point and even though there was still a ton of filler, did finish out this series in an interesting way to fill in all the gaps from the From Blood and Ash.
