Publisher's Summary

Born into one of the leading mob families in Chicago, Aria Scuderi struggles to find her own path in a world where no choices are given. Aria was only 15 when her parents betrothed her to Luca—The Vice—Vitiello, the oldest son of the head of the New York Cosa Nostra to ensure peace between the two families.

Now at 18, the day Aria has been dreading for years is looming dangerously: her wedding to Luca.

Aria is terrified of marrying a man she hardly knows, especially someone like Luca who got his nickname "The Vice" for crushing a man’s throat with his bare hands. Luca might be one of the most sought after men in New York, thanks to his good looks, wealth, and predator-like charisma that radiates power, but the society girls throwing themselves at him don’t know what Aria does: that the bad boy aura isn’t just a game; blood and death lurk beneath Luca’s striking gray eyes and arrogant smile.

In her world, a handsome exterior often hides the monster within, a monster who can just as easily kill as kiss you.

The only way to escape the marriage to Luca would be to run away and leave everything she’s ever known behind, but Aria can’t bear the thought of never seeing her family again.

Despite her fear, she decides to go through with the marriage; Aria has grown up among predators like Luca and knows that even most cold-hearted bastards have a heart, and she has every intention of working her way into Luca’s.

So cute

Been in a slump and this picked me up. This narrator always does a good job! Story was cute, I only wish it was longer. Felt like it ended when it was just getting really good. I’ll continue the series.

Amazing

The narrators did a wonderful job at creating Aria and Luca's personality for you.
-This is so far one of my favorite stories of the series as it perfectly depicts what a 18 y/o girl would feel in Arias situation.
the steamy parts are unreal

Narration was well done. But the story is lacking.

The Narration by Juliana Solo was good, I usually prefer a man to play the male roles in audiobooks, but she did do a very good job and I enjoyed listening to her voice.

I found the story however to be more lacking; in that it left with me with more questions than answers by the end of the book. which is never good for a novel. Now I know that this is book one in a series, so perhaps all these questions will be answered in other books and my criticism of the story is a bit premature. But I believe that each book switches its focus on other characters so I don't know how that would be done.

(Review contains some spoilers from here out)

My main problem with this story was with the heroine herself. I found her to be extremely weak willed, you had her internal monologues of how she hated what was happening to her, but then she would just go along with it. she only stands up for herself once on her wedding night; to keep her new husband from raping her, and once again when she confronts him for cheating on her.
Every other time she just plays along with everyone else's expectations. even if what is happening is making her extremely angry or upset. I just wish she had spoken up for herself more through the book.
like telling her husband's step mother "fuck your traditions", or even telling her father, who forced her into the marriage, that she was going to wear a bright red dress to his funeral.
Something to show that she had some kind of a backbone. but nope, she has the backbone of a jellyfish. and not even a jellyfish that stings, she's the kind that just floats around in the ocean and gets eaten by other things.

I don't know if i'm going to end up keeping this book, maybe she gets better in other books through the series, or maybe it will focus on other women who are stronger. I'm not sure yet.
