À propos de cet audio
Instead of looking at what we think autism is, we are going to jump into a whole new arena! Change the way you view and handle autism forever! We will examine the many common misconceptions of autism.
I'll be discussing some of the techniques that I've used on my four-year-old autistic son, Justin. He was three years old, about a month before his fourth birthday. I had searched everything I knew how to search, and I found lots of information on defining autism as well as the symptoms of autism. What I couldn't find was much on how to handle or treat it, other than, "Take him to a professional." I totally agree that autistic children need professional therapy and services. For me, what was missing was a way I could work with him one-on-one. A way I could break through the invisible barrier that surrounded him, and draw him out. I learned exactly how to do that with Justin. Through sharing my struggles, failures, and successes, I hope to offer hope to those who are parents or caregivers who have children with autism.
