About this listen

Help!

I've inherited my aunt's historic house in small-town Oregon, and I need to fix it up and sell it fast before I move on to my big-city dreams. I'm one of the navy's best investigators, but twenty years of living in base housing means DIY isn't part of my extensive skill set.

Luckily, my best friend has the solution: his twenty-three-year-old son. Knox recently graduated from college, needs a room for the summer, and comes with a giant cat and years of remodeling experience.

Not only is Knox all grown up and hot as sin, but I recognize him. He's the bossy, bearded guy I shared the hottest kiss of my life with. No way can my buddy find out I've got it bad for his son. But with all the stripping, hammering, and drilling, my defenses crumble one dance break at a time.

As our sexy secret summer fling continues, Knox also proves himself handy at fixing my grumpy mood and wounded heart. Now I can't imagine a future without him. I can solve any problem the navy throws at me, but I have no clue what to do about loving Knox or the damage this could do to my decades-long friendship.

Can we build a forever together, or are we destined to go our separate ways?

Contains mature themes.

Comfort Read!

This was my third time reading and I’m still surprised I haven’t reviewed it! What?! Annabeth’s Safe Harbour Series is one of my ABSOLUTE fave comfort series by her and I could read them over and over.

Book 1 opens with Monroe, a recently retired NCIS investigator coming back to his home town of Safe Harbour, Oregon, where he inherits a massive home from his deceased aunt that he is set to renovate and sell.

Reunited with his friend group, his best friend offers his son’s free labour for the house in exchange for letting the kid live with him for the summer since he’s between homes since returning from college. Monroe isn’t thrilled but he’s also not great at home repair and apparently this kid is.

Then Monroe goes to a bachelor party at a club and finds the hottest young thing and makes out with him! It’s lust at first sight! But their time together is short lived as their respective parties need them.

Upon returning home the next day, he gets to meet his new roommate which turns out to be his seggsy makeout partner from the club! AND HIS BESTIE’S 23yo son Knox!

and they both still want each other.

There’s insane push and pull as they tease and flirt in the old house. But Monroe’s impressed with Knox’s skill, talent and personality. They’re a match in every way possible and their chemistry is pure 🔥🔥🔥

I love Annabeth’s books because they always focus on small town community, finding your place in the queer community, your chosen family and the characters finding their own purpose and drives … this one is especially profound. Monroe is at a crossroads looking for a home and a new career and Knox is being pressured into grad school and moving even though a future and family in Safe Harbour is his desire.

On top of everything, there’s a delightful overarchering mürder mystery that runs throughout the series.

Everything about this story brings me so much joy, the wrap up is so sweet and the HEA is so well earned.

And the audiobook is FANTASTIC.
