About this listen

Trey Garrison is an expert at keeping his clients secure and his heart guarded. But he was unable to protect his nephew Benjy from being kidnapped. He'll do anything to help his sister get her son home safely. Even if it means setting aside his reservations and consulting a so-called psychic.

Jaida West recognizes Trey as a skeptic, but she also senses his desperation. Benjy's plight touches her deeply and she wants to help. First, though, she has to convince Trey to believe in her abilities. Their frantic journey would turn distrust to passion, but the danger surrounding Benjy grows with each passing day.

The child's rescue requires a daring plan. One that might cost them everything...

I loved the author’s take on the power and limitations of Jaida’s psychic powers.

Many paranormal books today focus on witches and are meant to be lighthearted, cozy reads. Nothing wrong with that, but I liked that the author took psychic powers seriously, as inherent in some people’s brains without the supernatural twist and as something that can be dangerous, disheartening and even self-destructive for the holder of those powers. I love that whenever Trey accused Jaida of being a phoney, she would go toe to toe with him, pointing out with justice how phoney he is in his dealings with other people. Without that backbone, she might have come across as too martyr-like at times. Instead, she seems feisty, strong-willed and very intensely empathetic. The story kept my interest throughout. I liked the reader’s voice and Jaida’s drawl was pleasant, though there were times when the accent went wildly wrong and suddenly sounded British. Great story!
