It’s true. I’m not what most people would call “pretty” and, well, high school was rough. Fast forward ten years and life is good....

Until a bunch of jerks think it’s hilarious to put the “butterface” (AKA me) on a wedding Kiss Cam with the hottest guy ever - and that old humiliation hits hard.

I recognize him immediately. The hottest cop in Waterbury and totally out of my league.

But then he kisses me.

And we totally forget the room, the crowd, everything.

Then he tells everyone we’ve been dating for months.

Soon everything starts to feel too real, from adorable fights over “necessary” tools to fix my broken porch to surviving a free-for-all dinner with his six siblings to picking up where our last kiss left off.

But there’s something he’s not telling me about why he’s really hanging around, and I’m pretty sure it has to do with my mob-connected brothers.

Because this is not a make-over story, and Cinderella is only a fairy tale....

Editorial Review

Gina Luca is a wedding planner, business owner, and self-described “butterface”—knock-out body, lacklustre face. But Gina has genuinely accepted her lot and knows never to expect to turn heads—that is, until she turns the head of the most exquisite specimen of a man in the room.

Butterface is a feel-good, heartwarming romantic comedy that’s equal parts fun and sexy, and will bring listeners to tears, but will bring them to laughter even more. Best-selling romance author Avery Flynn introduces our heroine Gina Luca, a smart and driven wedding planner who is quietly confident about her “10” body, yet painfully aware of her “not-10” face. She is genuinely happy with her friends, life, and career—even when that career abruptly thrusts her into the spotlight of a Kiss Cam with one of the sexiest men she has ever seen. And he’s looking at more than just her body.

Two narrators, Savannah Peachwood and Brian Pallino, share the credits for this fast-paced audiobook. Savannah’s natural, flowing voice is a spiced with a touch of snark that’s perfect for Gina’s dry humour and sassy attitude, and Brian’s emphatic, masculine voice offers a sharp symmetry to the narration.

The debut novel in Flynn’s beloved The Hartigans series, this lighthearted romance is followed by Muffin Top and Tomboy, both of which are just as fun, flirty, and unpausable as the first.

This was my first book by this author. I loved the story and the characters. It was heartwarming. I liked the fact that it told a story that so many people can relate too but often don’t hear. The narrators did an amazing job. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. ❤️

She was just very annoying with how ugly she kept saying she was. I have never met anyone who was so ugly they talked about it all day long let alone dating a sexy 6’2 fit detective. The story could have been good if she wasn’t so obsessed with being ugly. And people being this mean in life. I don’t know. It’s not believable. I know it’s a book. But still. This all seemed horrible for grown men especially officers to be this hurtful to someone they don’t even know. I don’t know. I didn’t like it that much. Still listened to it all and that was more to do with the narration

Hard to like Gina

The female narrator was very excellent. Intonation was spot on. He was good as well. First book I have experienced with male and female narration. Perfectly done. Loved the story. Which of us perfect? Great characters. I am getting the second book, as well.

Fun book

I loved this book. I fell in love with the main characters 3/4 ways through the book which I could not put down by the way I found myself with tears rolling down my cheeks I was so into the book I couldn’t put it down until the finished end wishing that there was more books to follow A+ for sure

Top notch

I understand why the book is named the way it is, but the insult is half the problem people with body image issues have. I love that the author kept it real. She did an excejob of showing how rude and obnoxious people can be and how it not only affects children, but what it can do to a person even in their adult years. When you find a person who looks beyond the outside and sees a person for who they are on the inside, hold on to then. This is a good story for both teenagers as well as adults. It can give hope and understanding for people who may be going through similar issues in their lives.

Love the book. Hate the title
