Publisher's Summary

"Dominic was staring at me like he couldn’t decide whether to chop me into pieces or pull my hair and French kiss me."

Dominic

I got her fired. Okay, so I’d had a bad day and took it out on a bystander in a pizza shop. But there’s nothing innocent about Ally Morales. She proves that her first day of her new job in my office, after being hired by my mother.

So, maybe, her colorful, annoying, inexplicably alluring personality brightens up the magazine’s offices that have felt like a prison for the past year. Maybe, I like that she argues with me in front of the editorial staff. And maybe, my after-hours fantasies are haunted by those brown eyes and that sharp tongue.

But that doesn’t mean that I’m going to be the next Russo man to take advantage of his position. I might be a second-generation asshole, but I am not my father. She’s working herself to death at half a dozen dead-end jobs for some secret reason she doesn’t feel like sharing with me. And I’m going to fix it all.

Don’t accuse me of caring. She’s nothing more than a puzzle to be solved. If I can get her to quit, I can finally peel away all those layers. Then I can go back to salvaging the family name and forget all about the dancing, beer-slinging brunette.

Ally

Ha! Hold my beer, Grumpy Grump Face.

Author’s note: A steamy, swoony workplace romantic comedy with a grumpy boss hero determined to save the day and a plucky heroine who is starting to wonder if there might actually be a beating heart just beneath her boss’ sexy vests.

Best office romance!!!

The best office romance/enemies to lovers story I've read!! It's is full of chemistry, angst, banter, laugh out loud moments and heart-wrenching parts. Ally is a struggling 39 year old woman who is holding down multiple jobs to cover her ailing father's nursing home care, while living in a run down home with barely no heat, nor food. When she meets 44 year old Dominic Russo, a rude customer who gets her fired, she is at her wits end until Dominic's mother offers Ally a job that puts her in Dominic's war path. What made this story better than most of the same trope is the way the story was flush out. Every chapter had a purpose, I loved how Ally called him Charming and he called her Malificent, how there were several comedic moments and the steam level was off the charts and slowburn in a believable way. Ally is a fierce, strong, prideful, loving heroine. She balances Dominic's broody, angry, closed-off demeanor. I absolutely love it. Thanks to Krystal and Kristen from no smut shaming podcast for the recommendation!

Just ok

This is an entertaining book similar to the premise of Pride and Prejudice with a modern day twist and too much graphic sex scenes for me. I just skipped those parts.

You won't regret this one!

I really enjoyed the banter, of course SY and EM narrating it didn't hurt. Story was good with good pacing.

*spoiler*
My only gripe was with Ally going through with the stage performance in the club. I felt like it was out of character for her to do it and for Dom not to stop her!!!!!!

Otherwise, loveeeddd itttt

great listen!

I loved everything about this book. The narration was enjoyable to listen to, the storyline and banter were great. Such a good romantic comedy. It is so refreshing to have a female main character in her thirties who doesn't have it all together but is trying her hardest to get there. This was my first Lucy Score book and definitely won't be my last!

A very unexpected love

With this being included in membership the bar was low but it was more than just a fluffy , easy book. I really enjoyed these characters . Good book!

Enemies to lovers, workplace romance, rich/poor, mature romance

Lucy Score really makes her characters work for their happy endings. Ally’s struggles with her father and her finances were heartbreakingly relatable. There was humour, love, and betrayal in this story of a modern day Mr Darcy and his Ms Bennett.

good

Women's voice sometimes was annoying, especially while reading men's voices.
Even though it's long, it doesn't get boring.
The thing I didn't like is that it’s a bit too perverted.

I really liked this.

Lucy Score is definitely becoming a new favorite author.

I love she writes older characters, the slowburn of the relationship. The banter was to dir for. I loved how Ally stood up for self.

Slowly going through her back list.
