About this listen
At eight years old, Tuesday Storm's childhood is forever lost when the death of her older sister Audrey sends her family spiraling out of control into the darkest of dysfunction. In the wake of the tragedy, Tuesday's mother, distraught and looking for a scapegoat, singles Tuesday out from her siblings to take on the blame for Audrey's death, and then targets her for unspeakable abuse. Almost overnight, the loving environment Tuesday has come to know, becomes an endless nightmare of twisted "games" and sadistic punishments as she's forced to confront the cruelty lurking behind the beautiful face of the mother she idolizes.
Based on a true story, Call Me Tuesday recounts with raw emotion a young girl's physical and mental torment at the mercy of the monster in her mother's clothes - a monster she doesn't know how to stop loving. Tuesday's painful journey through the hidden horrors of child abuse will open your eyes to what could be going on behind your neighbor's door, while her unshakeable love for her parents will tug at your heartstrings.

A great memoir
This was a very engaging read, although quite sad. I found myself shaking my head in anger, shock, and utter sadness while listening to the realities this young girl faced on a daily basis. The narrator did an exception job and varied voices between characters which I appreciated.

Meh
I mean, if you want people to like you and root for you when you write your book, maybe don't lead with, 'I wish my sister would die and I've actually thought about killing her myself'. That makes it kind of hard to feel bad for you.
This was ok. I've read/listened to so many stories of abuse and there's nothing in this one that was particularly savage or unique. If you're used to reading stories like these, this one definitely doesn't stand out. It's filled with run of the mill beatings and starving. Sad of course, but I was ALMOST moved to tears once. Usually when I read these types of books, I cry throughout. The author just makes it difficult to get into. Maybe she should have given us more of her happy life before? Idk.
As a side note, Tuesday Storm is a spectacular name!! Love it.
