About this listen
Count 'em - a dozen carrot topped, freckle-faced kids. Dad, a jovial optimist, successful inventor, and efficiency expert is fond of doing his work at home. Mom, a psychologist, is busy putting everything she knows into practice.
Listen along and discover the strange things that happen when Dad's experiments run awry…how Frank Jr. gets left behind at a roadside restaurant…how the whole clan has their tonsils out en masse…experience a first date with Dad in the backseat, or treeing a peeping Tom...
You can be sure they're not only cheaper, they're funnier by the dozen.

When a novel like Huckleberry Finn or The Yearling comes along, it defies customary adjectives because of the intensity of the response it evokes in the reader. Such a tale is Old Yeller; to listen to this eloquently simply story of a boy and his dog in the Texas hill country is an unforgettable and deeply moving experience.

Story
Prior to the Civil War, the fastest mail between the West Coast and the East took almost thirty days by stagecoach along a southern route through Texas. Some Californians feared their state would not remain in the Union, separated so far from the free states. Then businessman William Russell invested in a way to deliver mail between San Francisco and the farthest western railroad, in Saint Joseph, Missouri - across two thousand miles of mountains, deserts, and plains - guaranteed in ten days or less.

Great Story
The only thing we didn’t like was how long the music went into each chapter. Otherwise great.

Somewhat Disappointing
No matter how they don't say it, this is abridged. I'm very familiar with this book, the first time I read it was in 1974. There are a lot of little details that didn't make it to the recording.
