Publisher's Summary

In this taut, chilling audiobook, Lester Ballard - a violent, dispossessed man falsely accused of rape - haunts the hill country of East Tennessee when he is released from jail. While telling his story, Cormac McCarthy depicts the most sordid aspects of life with dignity, humor, and characteristic lyrical brilliance.

love Cormack McCarthy

another great one by my favorite author. I love the odd ball characters and the darkness to this story.

Amazing story

Yes it is violent and macabre but you know that going in. It is a beautiful piece of writing. Utterly terrifying and not for the faint of heart. Dive in and get ready for a great story.

McCarthy dares you to accept his vision

Like other stuff by CM, this one makes you suspend a whole lot of esthetic instincts in order to go where he want to take you. This kind of history is sorely lacking in education today, and Blood Meridian dares you to accept that the west could truly be this brutal. And the strength and integrity of this production forces us to accept it as truth, and deal with it. Not for the faint of heart.

Gripping and mysterious

Love this author, great book. A tour of an ugly part of our world without holding any punches.

Grotesque and Depraved

What can I say? Not a single likable character in the whole book and the central character is a depraved and grotesque man who lacks any sort of redeemable features. The narrator does a good job with the southern drawl and the reader gets a brief history lesson on white hats and blue bills . I suppose it wasn'ta terrible book as the writing of Cormac is always beautifully descriptive just wasn't my cup of tea .
