know the origin story of the main character is something that is done quite often, it was beautifully executed.

A strong start
The first book in the Wings of War series delivers on it's premise with strong writing and a compelling lead. The pacing is wonderful with a slow opening, that allows the reader to grow attached to the character of Raz and sympathize with his motives, before ramping up the action for the latter half of the story.
I look forward to reading the next book!
