In the year 1912, 19-year-old Christy Huddleston leaves home to teach school in the Smoky Mountains – and comes to know and love the resilient people of the region, with their fierce pride, their dark superstitions, their terrible poverty, and their yearning for beauty and truth. But her faith will be severely challenged by trial and tragedy, by the needs and unique strengths of two remarkable young men, and by a heart torn between true love and unwavering devotion. And don't miss another heart-soaring best seller from Catherine Marshall: Julie.

I listened to this book twice in a row. Deeply spiritual but not in the cliche way because it’s raw and deals with the most difficult questions of life. Got me through hard times.
Loved the narrator! She did a wonderful job of impersonating the different characters, especially the charming mountain people.

Incredible Story!

I read this book many years ago, and recently purchased it as a gift for my niece. I decided to listen to the audio and was reminded what a great story this is. The narrator brings the characters to life. Highly recommend this book!!

Kellie Martin shines again as Christy once again comes alive to listeners. Such a beautifully portrayed story. The reader is carried away to a time when the telephone was the newest thing and there were no computers texts or faxes to interfere with the quiet of Mountain life. Awesome. #Audible1

A classic for a reason and truly worth your time. Beautifully written and there is so much depth and thoughtfullness woven into this book. The majority of it come the true experiences of the "real-life Christy," it's a living story.

The narration was absolutely perfect, Kellie brought it to life and clearly understood the vision of the author.

One of my favorites, perfect narration.
