Not to mention that someone in New York is killing Downworlders and draining their blood, creating a climate of suspicion that sends Downworld Manhattan to the brink of civil war.

When the Silent Brothers are murdered and the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Sword of Souls, is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor is dispatched from Idris to investigate. She clearly harbors a personal grudge against Jace, and she drives a wedge between him and his adoptive family. When Clary's romance with her best friend, Simon, starts to heat up, Jace feels abandoned. But has he, as the Inquisitor accuses, joined up with his father?

Then Simon is turned into a vampire and kidnapped by Valentine, who intends to sacrifice him as part of a bloody ritual that will make the Mortal Instruments his own forever. Jace knows he needs to save Simon's life, for Clary's sake. But what if he's too late? What if Valentine has already made the Mortal Instruments his own?

Overall excellent

It was great but I did prefer Mae Whitman telling the story and wished she did more than just the first book.

love these books...

love these books..narrator was very pleasant to listen to...wish they would have carried on with the movies as well

loves this book!!

I watched the whole Netflix show for years and didn't realize it was an actual book series. then I started listeningto this and its so much better.

good book. bad narrator

loved this book and the whole series. the narrator on the other hand, I could barely stand. she gives unnecessary accents and makes clary sound like a stuck up b*tch. she makes her sound exactly how clary describes the girls she hates in the first book but I guess she didn't narrate the first book so she wouldn't know.

Pretty Entertaining

The narrator did a good job, and it was very easy to remain engaged in the story. However, despite the excitement of the story, it did have a few flaws which dropped it to a 3.5/5 rating for me.
