About this listen

A heart-pounding new series set in the Black Dagger Brotherhood world, with a scientist fighting to save the timber wolves - and getting caught in a deadly trap herself....

Lydia Susi is passionate about protecting wolves in their natural habitat. When a hotel chain develops a tract of land next to the preserve, Lydia is one of the most vocal opponents of the project - and becomes a target.

One night, a shadowy figure threatens Lydia’s life in the forest, and a new hire at the Wolf Study Project comes from out of nowhere to save her. Daniel Joseph is both mysterious and someone she intrinsically wants to trust. But is he hiding something?

As the stakes get higher and one of Lydia’s colleagues is murdered, she must decide how far she will go to protect the wolves. Then a shocking revelation about Daniel challenges Lydia’s reality in ways she could never have predicted. Some fates demand courage, while others require even more, with no guarantees. Is she destined to have true love...or will a soul-shattering loss ruin her forever?

Not my favorite

I'm looking forward to the second book as I found this book just ok. It started to get better near the end.

Great Story

It honestly took me a few listens to fully focus on the story. For some reason it was easier than usual for me to zone out to the narration, though I do love this reader. Once I finally managed to get the full picture, it is a great story, though the BDB content seems a bit forced. Looking forward to the next one.

Claimed

I will read anything that Jim
Frangione reads or JR award right! Never disappoints! The cliff hanger is unusual for her but as usual, I can’t wait for the next book! Please write faster!

Good, But . . .

I am a fan of the Black Dagger books and of Jim Frangione’s reading so I was excited that this new series was starting. But I’m disappointed in this first book for a couple of reasons. 1. The thread of the story that connects to the BDB(for spoiler reasons I won’t elaborate) doesn’t involve my favourite character. That’s personal. 2. The book was slow starting for me. Then when I finally got interested, I found I’d have to read more books to know what in the heck was going on. Not happy about having to wait a year or more for that to happen, by which time I will have lost interest. So sorry. Not up there with my J.R. Ward favourites.

I'm pulled back in after every book

I have been reading these since 2006 - I was 16. Just when I think I'm not going to get sucked back into this series, I read a book like this and I'm back in love with J.R. Ward again. (Not that I really ever fell out of love.)
Not to mention, Jim Frangione could read me a cook book and I would love it.
This series just keeps getting better. I love that this had more plot development. At this point I'm invested in the universe, not always the individual love interests. Although these two were spicy, with an amazing twist at the end that actually had my jaw hit the floor.

Disappointed and found it slow

Honestly, I love the author. Who doesn’t love the brotherhood?! But this book is slow to start, only the last 5% of the story is great. I wish I felt like I could read book 2 but I can’t see it getting better. It’s a no from me.
