About this listen
Lawless, British Columbia is on edge after a powerful earthquake jolts the region, quickly followed by a string of savage animal attacks. Newly stationed to the area after her predecessor mysteriously disappears, Conservation Officer Christine Moon needs to calm the jangled nerves of the small mountain town.
Awakened from ancient slumber, something stalks the swirling, grey mists that surround Lawless. A beast with a gnawing hunger that grows stronger by the minute - its only thought, to satisfy its ravenous appetite.
Rampant corruption at the highest level has targeted Christine to be the next mysterious disappearance. Now, she's in a fight for her life while trying to track and contain the creature threatening to decimate the local population.

Absolutely Loved This
I love the book and the narrator make the story really one alive. Funny thing is I always thought, while reading this book, that the town of Lawless really existed as the author is so descriptive and refers to other real towns and landmarks. The surroundings are all tied together to make the whole location a believable location in BC. I live in Alberta and have been in that area of BC several times and I still did not clue in that it was a fictional place until the author mentioned that it was. The author is just that great.
I love all the different voices that the narrator uses consistently throughout. I definitely recommend this audiobook to others for a wonderful listening experience. I would also love to see this as a movie someday (as long as the movie people don’t butcher it like they do to so many good books).

Authentic, terrifying and fascinating!
Exciting! Fascinating environmental and geographical information about British Columbia, Canada, compliments brilliant storytelling. Spiced with quirky and clever Canadian humour, I found myself laughing out loud, smiling and nodding, whilst mesmerized by the authentically terrifying introduction to nature’s apex predators. Loved it!

Cute and Creative
The character are adorable and the events are so creative! I got flashbacks to "It" at the end, though I won't say anything more than that to avoid spoilers. I was able to get through the audiobook in three days.

Predictable but good
You can pretty much guess at the beginning of the movie how it’s going to end. And you soon get a feel of which characters are going to survive in which aren’t. So it is predictable, but I still enjoyed it! Clearly, Canadian, with half the characters stopping at Tim’s for a double double.🤣

Not narrated by a Canadian
I would be shocked if this was narrated by a Canadian. There were obvious pronunciation errors for Canadian things like "touque", which is irritating but overall, I just think more effort could have been put into the reading and execution of the conversations.
The story itself was okay but way too much time was spent describing the scene or on needless chat between characters.

Just needs to be a movie (with re-writes).
While this was a fun romp of a creature feature, the dialogue was so bad I was squirming with second-hand embarrassment. It just felt like I was reading an early draft of a film script written by a teenager.

It was okay
Really wanted to give this book a chance as it was about Canada. For the most part it was an interesting story, but at times I felt it lacked a little bit of depth. It was pretty good but I think it had the framework to be an awesome tale. Worth a listen and the narrator did a good job.
