Two rural families flee to the city and find themselves sharing a great, breathing, shuddering joint called Cloudstreet, where they begin their lives from scratch. For 20 years, they roister and rankle, laugh and curse until the roof over their heads becomes a home for their hearts.©2002 Tim Winton (P)2008 Bolinda Publishing Pty Ltd Fiction Genre Fiction Literary Fiction Heartfelt

What the critics say

AudioFile Earphones Award, Exceptional Audio Performance, 2004

"One of those rare novels that warm the heart, as well as spark the imagination." (Kirkus Reviews)

"Peter Hosking's performance is true to Winton's unsentimental exploration into humankind's ability to love and survive amid adversity.... His characterizations, including an aboriginal ghost and a talking pig, are earthy, real, and frequently hilarious." (AudioFile)

I suggested Cloudstreet by Tim Winton for my book club but the local library had no copies. Some members found hard copies on Amazon and shared them. Some bought the e-version. Someone else found the series on DVD at the library. Two of us listened to the story on Audible while on a road trip together. She and I absolutely loved the story! We knew the rest of the group would love it too. We found the story to be at times hilarious, at times heart wrenching and at other times heart warming. Imagine our surprise when we learned that those who visually read Cloustreet had mixed opinions.

#Audible1. Our collective experiences highlighted for me the value of listening to stories read by talented narrators. Our book club has been together for 21 years. I know most of the members well. I know that if they had listened, rather than read, they would have loved Cloudstreet as much as my road trip partner and I did.

Great Introduction to a Great Author

Among my all-time favourites. Every reading's a gift as is Winton's writing. Narration absolutely superb.

To be read and reread; listened to again and again
