A new flagship. An unfamiliar crew. An old nemesis.
Thomas Baldwin has been appointed captain of the state-of-the-art cruise ship Constantine, named after his heroic grandfather. When their first diplomatic mission turns deadly, all signs point to the return of a former adversary, one the Concord claims to have defeated five decades earlier.
No one has seen Baldwin's commander, Treena Starling, since her previous ship was destroyed in a gruesome battle, leaving her the sole survivor. Can her secret help them rescue one of their crew members from captivity at the enemy's hands?
When the Concord advises Baldwin to walk away from a fight, he must rely on his new crew, including the AI based on his younger grandfather, Constantine, to make the right decisions. One wrong step, and Captain Baldwin could be throwing the entire Concord into another intergalactic war...and this time they might not be so lucky.

Captain 'Thomas Baldwin' plays the role of James T. Kirk (insisting on joining away teams, for example) while an array of other characters fill in the roles of any TNG character Hystad might need to drive his plot (engineers, ship's doctors, security chiefs, etc.). Duplicity among Concord officials colors a space confrontation between a candidate world and perennial enemies "The Stoktu".. all while the crew of the starship 'Constantine' - and a series of characters with their consciuosnesses downloaded into robots/AI holograms - explores a wormhole through which the Stoktu attacked and retreated with captured Consort citizens. It's an entertaining - if incredibly familiar - tale.
As to presentation: I very much enjoyed the reading performance by James Patrick Cronin. On this project his diction/timbre/cadence and voice-acting reminded me of Nick Podehl (one of my favorite narrators). This is an impressive reading performance.
Altogether, I give 'Confrontation' 6.5/10-stars. It's roughly on par with any 'Star Trek Discovery' screenplay that you might have watched: loaded with thoughtful action-heavy space opera intrigue. If you can get it off of the 'Plus' menu, do so without hesitation. I personally wouldn't invest a Credit on it if they asked for one, but you could defensibly do so.
Credible "Star-Trek-lite" Story
