About this listen
From USA Today best-selling author A. Zavarelli comes an angsty forbidden romance about second chances, forgiveness, and a love that conquers all.
Before the world knew me as a rock god, I was just the angry boy who stole her heart.
She was a good girl.
The forbidden fruit I wasn’t meant to taste.
Our stars were crossed, and fate had doomed us from the start.
She was promised to someone else.
I had her secret smiles.
Moments stolen in dark corners.
But I couldn’t have her future.
Destiny tore us apart, and all that remained was the ghost of her memory.
When she died, I did too.
But when I catch a glimpse of her five years later, alive and well, that love turns to hate as the bitter truth emerges.
She left me.
She lied.
And now, I’m going to make her pay.
This book is a standalone dark romance about a military veteran turned rock star hero and the girl who stole his heart and never let it go.

A wild ride!
This was my first book by A. Zavarelli and it will not not be the last. Contempt was a wild, twisty, turny suspenseful listen. Told in two timelines, the past and the present, we are left with so many questions and the answers are not what you would expect. An unreliable narrator also lends to the suspense and it really makes this book a whole experience, since you can’t really trust her. The love between the two main characters was intense and the pull to each other was irresistible. Do yourself a favor and go into this book blind, it really makes it even better. The narration by Stephanie and James was great, they both really embodied their characters and brought them to life. Contempt was a great listen and I plan on going back and listening to the rest of the series!
