About this listen
The world is saved.
Now what?
Cost of Victory subverts the beloved trope: “Outcast superteen saves the world” to explore the psychological and emotional aftermath of a worldwide tragedy. Follow the cast as they strive to return to “life as normal” and prepare to start their healing journeys.
What becomes of the hero after the world is saved?
Genius inventor Ferdinan Samultz just saved the world - only, doing so broke him. But life goes on...kind of. At the very least he's trying to act like it does. Despite a cruel voice haunting him, his ally Jon Artimus pestering him about food, and a strange new girl known only as "Oya" rocking his world, the 15 yr old is able to squeak by.
Then strange things start happening. His dreams go off the rails, his cousin stops sleeping - nearly driving the boy insane, and Ferdinan finds himself healing faster than he should on multiple occasions. Instead of having a moment to figure all these things out, the Science's lead student Xhou Zi thrusts the responsibility of a major school event on him. Neither does Ferdinan get to relax over the break between classes. Instead he spends the month avoiding the smothering concern of Jon's family - and later keeping his cousin from killing him. Too bad being able to manage from day to day isn't actually helping him. Neither is it making life easier for Jon who wants nothing more than to wipe his hands clean of Ferdinan and just go home and be coddled. Content
