About this listen

Aphrodite has never flinched at getting her perfectly manicured hands dirty, and she's not about to start now—even if that means marrying Olympus's enemy number one, the new Hephaestus. She has a wicked plan to keep her deadly new husband off-balance, seducing the one person he seems to care about most in this world: Pandora, a woman as beautiful as she is sweet.

Two can play the seduction game, however, and Hephaestus is all too happy to put his new wife in her place. Her ex, Adonis, seems like he'll do the trick. It doesn't hurt that he's gorgeous in the way of fallen angels either.

The only problem with using seduction as a weapon? Hearts are all too quick to get involved. With Hephaestus and Aphrodite trading venomous strikes that feel a whole lot like foreplay, lines become blurred and emotions entangled. But a broken heart may be the least of their worries. With unrest in Olympus reaching new heights, these bedroom games may have deadly consequences for them both, their city, and everyone they've come to love.

Drama and Romance

The fifth book in the DARK OLYMPUS series follows Aphrodite, Hephaestus, Pandora, and Adonis as the former two are forced to wed and drag the latter two into their complex relationship drama.

With drama being the most important word in the story, it’s only fitting for the characters to match. And they do. Each of the main characters is fierce, even sweet natured Pandora. The warring personalities, especially between Aphrodite and Hephaestus, allow for some fiery scenes and biting dialogue. It was interesting to see the characters interact with each other as they tried to work for bigger goals, which typically counteracted one another.

There is an overarching plot moving things along, but the bulk of the story is concentrated on the four main characters dissecting their new relationships. The romance and spice are incredibly hot and there is quite literally a romance for everyone. The stakes and danger are high, though I would’ve liked to see a little more of the threats.

As always, I find the series fun, especially when you know what to expect going into a book like this: Sexy drama. Recommended if you are looking for a spicy read that does not hold back!

* Note: I read this series out of order, thinking that because it was following different characters and storylines, I wouldn’t be missing much by way of key information. That was not the case, so I do recommend reading the series in order.
