About this listen
A frank and funny comic drama about two late 30-something friends and the pressures on their friendship
Montserrat Lombard and Ophelia Lovibond star in this frank and funny exploration of female friendship in all its gruesome glory.
Sally and Bea have been friends since school, but life always threatens to push them apart, whether it's about family and relationships, or work and money - or the thousands of other issues that come up in adulthood. They meet whenever they can for coffee and a catch-up, and each time discover new issues that will decide if their friendship is just one more thing they wish they could ditch, or whether it's exactly what they need for many more happy decades.
Cry Babies is written by E V Crowe, a graduate of the Royal Court Young Writers Programme Super Group, whose first play, 'Kin', was nominated for the Most Promising Playwright at the Evening Standard Awards, and second Royal Court play, 'Hero', was part of the Olivier Award winning Season in the Theatre Upstairs. She has received commissions from Manhattan Theatre Club, The Royal Court, The Unicorn Theatre, The Coterie, Manchester International Festival and Chichester Festival Theatre.
Starring Montserrat Lombard (Ashes to Ashes, Upstart Crow) and Ophelia Lovibond (W1A, Elementary), this frank and funny exploration of female friendship in all its gruesome and beautiful glory is just the treat for listeners of To Hull and Back, Alison and Maud, and A Brief History of Timewasting.
