About this listen

Killashandra Ree has spent ten grueling years in musical training, anticipating interstellar celebrity as a vocal soloist. She is young, beautiful—and still without prospects. After learning that a flaw in her voice will prevent her from singing lead, she hears of the mysterious Heptite Guild on the planet Ballybran, where the fabled Black Crystal is found. Mining this strange form of crystal is a dangerous occupation but to Killa, the risks are acceptable. Remarkably, her adaptation to crystal mining is unusually rapid and easy and Killashandra advances quickly. The problem is—few people who land on Ballybran ever leave.

Crystal singer

I remember reading this book in 1993 to 1995. I read all three in the spans of about a month and a half. they were my girlfriend's books and I really enjoyed them then and I enjoyed them listening to them now. very interesting and entertaining

crystal singer

narration was good. very disappointed because major passages were omitted. I didn't want the short story, I thought I was buying the full version. I hope you don't do this with all the books

Great Stuff!

Overall, I enjoyed it like I did the book. however, the narrator just couldn't quite manage some of the accents she tried. I listened over a car trip, though, and it really helped keep me awake and focused.

Would be five star plus it were UNABRIDGED

What a great DISAPPOINTMENT having to listen to an ABRIDGED version, not to hear the full mystery about the crystal singer and Killashandra adventures . . .
AND SPOIL ALERT, the next book, KILLASHANDRA IS ALSO ABRIDGED and it gets worse,
the third book, CRYSTAL LINE, has not been recorded on audible.

My only HOPE is that ALL THREE BOOKS of the series BE RE-RECORDED AS UNabridged.
By the way, I have read the books several times through the years and they were wonderful, they were unabridged, . . . Imagine that.

Shortened version

Why is it not noted that this is a shortened version of the book? The original is a wonderful story. I wanted it in its complete form.

it was abridged

it was an abridged version. read poorly and hurriedly as if the reader couldn't wait to get finished. I will not waste any more credits on this series which deserves to be produced in an unabridged form.

Too many important parts cut

I should’ve paid attention, and noticed this is not an unabridged version. Entire paragraphs in the early part of the story, parts that are important later, have been trimmed out for the sake of time. I’ve actually given up on listening to this because it’s ruined the experience of wanting to have an audiobook of one of my favourite Anne McCaffrey tales.
