About this listen
This program is read by longtime series narrator, Rebecca Soler.
“When it comes to reimagined fairy tales, the reigning queen of the genre is Marissa Meyer.”—The New York Times
Be still now, and I will tell you a tale.
#1 New York Times-bestselling author Marissa Meyer brings the haunting fairytale-inspired Gilded duology to a thrilling conclusion that will have fans—old and new—spinning.
Adalheid Castle is in chaos.
Following a shocking turn of events, Serilda finds herself ensnared in a deadly game of make-believe with the Erlking, who is determined to propel her deeper into the castle’s lies. Meanwhile, Serilda is determined to work with Gild to help him solve the mystery of his forgotten name and past.
But soon it becomes clear that the Erlking doesn’t only want to use Serilda to bring back his one true love. He also seeks vengeance against the seven gods who have long trapped the Dark Ones behind the veil. If the Erlking succeeds, it could change the mortal realm forever.
Can Serilda find a way to use her storytelling gifts for good–once and for all? And can Serilda and Gild break the spells that tether their spirits to the castle before the Endless Moon finds them truly cursed?
Romance and adventure collide in this stunning finale to the Rumpelstilskin-inspired fairy tale.

Like 3 books in 1, lots of story value!
There really isn’t a way to guess which direction this twisty story will take you next. It’s very inventive and imaginative, certainly a highly creative re-imagining of the old tale.
I feel like the author has given us three books in one. It fees like plots started, stopped and new ones began. My head it spinning.
It’s the kind of book that you can put down briefly - but only at the right point, if you get to one of the natural endings- you’re good. Just make sure you’re not away so long that you forget where you are in the story!!!
I really feel like there is a lot of story value here for your money.
I found the performance to be well done, even though I am not a big fan of this particular actor’s voice. I find her voice to be jarring and sharp, where I prefer a more soothing read. I can’t deny that it matches the main character perfectly though. She certainly pulls off all the other voices very well too. I deducted 1 out of 5 stars just for that “ease of listen” factor.

Absolutely Incredible
The narration was perfection. The storyline was incredible, the story starts off with so many different strings and by the end they were all perfectly tied together with the perfect amount of suspense and intrigue.

Excellent reimagining.
Perfect ending to a wonderful duology. Marissa Meyer continues to impress. I absolutely inhaled both books. Some of my favourites of 2023 for sure.
