About this listen
The No. 1 Sunday Times Bestseller.
At just eight years old, Jodie is violent, aggressive and extremely challenging. Five carers in four months have been unable to cope, but there is one last hope: Cathy Glass…
As Jodie begins to trust Cathy and make progress, shocking details about her past come to light. No one had noticed the glaring signs of abuse by those who were supposed to love her most.
One of Cathy’s earliest and bestselling memoirs, Damaged is a heartbreaking story that proves just how valuable foster carers are for society’s most vulnerable children.

Be warned!
This story violates the soul of the reader! You cannot read it and feel unscathed by the horrors of abuse but you are riveted to your seat, torn between not wanting to know any more and wanting to hurry justice! Very well written and performed! Not for everyone because of the emotional torment it evokes but worth knowing the reality of real monsters in our world and the team of heros defending the victims.

Good story but sad
This is a sad story and one of Cathy's most difficult foster placements ever. I like that Cathy didn't give up, despite all the tricky times, no breaks, and sacrifices to her own family to try and love Jodie. It is an absolutely terrible story in regards to the details of what some biological parents made their daughter endure in her short 8 years having to live with monsters. They stole Jodie's future and it is so sad but I am glad to know she had made some progress. Glad to be able to hear all Cathy's stories even though this type of stuff is not for everyone.

Impactful
Cathy Glass never disappoints with her well written stories of children who have come into her life and their unique life experiences.
As a person who supports children and youth in my community I enjoy connecting with some of these shared experiences.

Heart wrenching. Wonderfully written. Really enjoyed the narrator.

No words
Probably one of the most heartbreaking books I’ve ever read, sometimes even difficult to continue with but a worth while listen, that’s for sure!

Tragic and heart wrenching
My heart broke with this book and all the tragic accounts of this child’s abuse. My faith in humanity is half fast by Cathy. Tears flowed. I was deeply touched by this families story.
