Has a book ever had a better beginning than this?

The author absolutely matted the gas pedal… glorious! So well written, fantastic characters and my new favourite narrator. The range of his voices is unreal. His ability to do accents, but not in a cartoonish way, takes narration to another level. The narrators basso delivery of James’ lines brings gravity to the words. How he does an astoundingly believable Olaf, then right into any female voice is amazing. This is one of only 2 narrators I’ve seen do this so well where a female voice doesn’t even sound like the narrator, it doesn’t take you out of the moment, it never even occurs to me during listening that the same guy who can make Olaf utter the word “Slaughter” in such a low octave, can transition to a female characters voice that is such a polar opposite and yet pleasing, never harsh or brittle.

Many narrators turn the opposite sex characters into cartoonish and sibilant creations that are so grating that the words they say lose meaning since the tone can’t convey it properly without getting in the way. I hope that makes sense. Not a problem for this guy, he’s that good.

The Author is fantastic. I’m a fan and clearly he has started something here that is special. Beautiful characters, quality development, good descriptions without being over detailed and mired in underestimated and unimportant noise. Just solid pacing, great tension, great at building tension. Keep it up.

This is probably a favourite series. Again, I never look to see if this is a 3 book or going to continue but I hope it continues I sense vast amounts of world building can be achieved with what’s hinted at. I’m not quite at the end but wanted to post a review to just say that it’s an astounding and fun entry into the series. Bravo.

please rate and review EVERY book you consume! authors need more than the direct money from your single purchase!

Ive pasted my review from book one because i read all 3 before reviewing them.

ive listened to a few other similiar series and yet i find they all are different enough to be worth their own listen. Void is no exception. Id come across the title in a reddit threat for some other book suggestion and decided to buy #1 for later listening.

I just finished book 3, the LAST book, a clear trilogy, and am very satisfied. tingles for the last 30 minutes of book 3. the pacing in the entire series is so on point. Never a dull moment. every chapter has importance. Didnt feel like it was ever bogged down in stats and yet stats are displayed many times. its just that there is seemingly more importance to the stats in this?

5/7 would listen again.

The ending!!!

I honestly forget that this is all one guy reading this book. His voice acting is superb. Really makes the characters come alive. (Stalking out more of his works after this book)
Really difficult not to nerd out along with the characters in all the expansive references.
The way the author weaves the philosophy of humanity with modern day humour and character development/ input is truly an art form.
Chefs kiss to the ending. For a story as complex as this one I was throughly impressed that no loose ends were left unconnected and the amount of closure I had even amongst the TRAGEDY (no spoilers) was shocking. All of the feelings, and the author guided me through my feels. Since when did fiction become self help lol

Fantastic ending to a great series

The author ending this series, in my humble opinion, absolutely perfectly. A special hats off to the narrator. His character voices are fantastic and he does an amazing job with his accents.
