About this listen

One day, the power goes off and the world falls silent. And in two very different parts of America, two very different nightmares are about to begin.

In Manhattan, Elizabeth and her brother Henry are all alone in their parents' apartment. Looking out the window, they can see the carnage slowly spreading through the city. But as hopes fade for their parents to come back, Elizabeth and Henry discover that dangers might already have entered the building.

Meanwhile, in Oklahoma, Thomas and his family live on an isolated farm. They too have noticed that something has changed, and a chance encounter on a deserted road leads to a moment of pure horror. An infection is spreading, and soon more victims begin to fall.

A good story, characters are hard to like

I got the whole series in the Plus section of Audible. (free). It's a good story, narration is just ok, the characters are hard to like. This series is a good filler while waiting for your credits. solid 3 stars.

Sounds like it was written by a teenager

Unimpressed. Poorly written, in desperate need of editting, and the performances were also mediocre at best.

Characters immaturity

I kind of started to lose interest in the story with the characters. They weren’t believable. The sister and the little brother sounded a lot younger than the age they were supposed to be which really threw me off. A sixteen year old shouldn’t sound and act like a ten year old. I finished the book because it was short but every time I heard the sister and little brother it became a struggle. I liked the story overall but the characters needed work

Interesting concept but poorly executed

Unless I missed an important chapter, I don't understand how a world sudden sickness leaves most survivors without transportation and subsistance in just 2 months time.

I liked that the main characters are not your usual para military/preppers. But man they are making all the wrong choices!

Wrong narrators choices. Voices don't match both characters. They have about 3 voices each, which gets confusing really fast. Especially with the male/female impersonations.

The same story could have been told in just 2 books. The author repeats herself a lot. There are lots of inconsistencies in the continuum too.

I listened to the whole series because it was free (thank you), and I'm glad I didn't use my credits for it.

Im glad I didnt have to waste a credit....

I couldnt make it through even half of this. The female voice sounds like a 12 year old cursing and swearing. The "16 year old" is written like a 4 year old, and is completely unbelievable as a character, or even as a farce. This, honestly, is the worst thing I listened, ALMOST listened to, since I joined Audible. Just Terrible.
