About this listen

Discover how to successfully and efficiently calm an angry person or diffuse a volatile situation in 90 seconds or less with this proven and accessible peacekeeping method by self-described "lawyer turned peacemaker" Douglas E. Noll.

We live in an increasingly divided world, and most of us have encountered our fair share of aggressive people and difficult confrontations. Fortunately, we now have the tools to become peacemakers and transform emotionally volatile situations and hurt feelings to calm, nonaggressive ones.

Tested on prison inmates, De-Escalate offers a new set of social listening and communication skills based on the latest findings in neuroscience and meditation. Along with practical exercises and scenario-based examples, each chapter focuses on specific themes, such as dealing with emotionally charged teenagers and frustrated coworkers. Additionally, Noll shares practical tips on how to be civil in an uncivil society.

With De-Escalate, we can bring peace to all facets of life, cultivate healthier relationships, and participate in creating a more caring and compassionate future for us all.

Excellent principle & methods to evaluate & consider

IMO, this book offers very good principles to keep in mind, evaluate, consider, and practice when appropriate. Some of the family or school or friend related principles—very good principles—in this book will need re-building or regaining the FOUNDATION of trust or a relationship with the other person, before seeing results from this book’s principles…as Dr. Covey said, to increase the “balance” of the likely overdrawn psychological & emotional “bank account” of each person, before being able to use the useful principles of this book… that is the purpose of “books”…to share new ideas, prospectives, and methods to consider for mutual growth…

CONFLICTED

The author is male. Unsure why he had a woman reading??? I don't know why but my brain found this confusing. I always find books that don't list whats in their Chapters, irritating from the perspective of review. Regardless of these 2 isolated points, I will probably listen to this book a few more times cause this sort of info needs to be practiced often and regularly, to be learned.
