Publisher's Summary

The Witcher meets the The Dresden Files in this Weird Western tale by the Audible number one best-selling duo, performed by Roger Clark (Red Dead Redemption 2’s Arthur Morgan).

James Crowley met his mortal end in a hail of gunfire. Now, he finds himself in purgatory, serving the White Throne to avoid falling to hell. Not quite undead, though not alive either, the best he can hope for is to work off his servitude and fade away.

His not-so-sacred duty as a Hand of God? Use his new abilities to hunt down demonic beings that have infiltrated the mortal realm.

This time, the White Throne has sent him to the middle of nowhere: a Western town called Dead Acre with a saloon, a moldy church, and little else worth talking about. There isn’t even a sheriff. But the local cobbler has gone missing at the same time as a number of graves were desecrated.

Crowley must follow the clues, all while dealing with a cutthroat gang that treats Dead Acre like they own it, an extraordinary woman who makes it hard to focus, and locals not keen on strangers.

Life isn’t simple for a Hand of God.

Awesome story and narration. One word: MORE!

A great combination of western and the supernatural, without an excessive amount of one or the other. Rhett C. Bruno and Jaime Castle have created a universe with lots of potential and the narrator was perfect for this story.

My only disappointment? Way too short. More please!!

Amazing!

It was perfect. The only problem is it wasn't a series that lasted forever.

A true short western science fiction

Loved it, plain and simple. The story was spot on for a first person narrative of a dead cowboy turned to killin evil monsters as the hand of god. Would love a sequel!!

The voice actor did a “Spot on” job!! Took you into the world with the lingo and passion. I truly recommend this one!

Short and bitter sweet.

Amazing!

I might be biased because this story has 2 of my favourite world's collide. Think Supernatural thrown into a Western setting, replace Sam and Dean with Garelt but make him a gunslinger.
Roger Clark is spectacular, it feels like he not only enjoyed performing this but was passionate about the story too. Before writing this I learned it is being turned into a series (Black Badge) and am very much looking forward to this also being adapted for TV. I hope Roger Clark will perform all future stories and possibly star in the show if it gets made.

If you like Westerns, Haven and Hell portrayal similar to preacher and supernatural then don't hesitate and start listening now.

Well Done!

This supernatural western took me by surprise and in the best possible way. I found this book in an audible promo (free) listening offer and was initially intrigued by the artwork on the cover. Western novels are typically not my preference but the publisher's summary piqued my curiosity.

I enjoyed the story and performance equally. Roger Clark's tone and diction superbly framed the character's pragmatic nature.
Rhett Bruno and Jaime Castle masterfully created a subtly complex protagonist and I am excited to see how they will develop this character's purpose.
