Publisher's Summary

In the distant past, a time of magic and swordplay, there lived Harold, the mightiest lich of all, a master of arcane sciences, and a challenger of gods. After reaching the pinnacle of his power and finding it surprisingly bland, Harold waged a cataclysmic war against the gods, aiming to shatter the very system that confined him.

Then, he took a nap.

An incredibly long nap that ends with a jolt, thanks to an unwitting adventurer who trips into Harold's crypt. Blinking into the torchlight, Harold finds a world he barely recognizes. No more swords and sorcery, but a universe buzzing with cultivation, celestial sects, and far too many pretentious dialogues about the path to godhood.

Harold is no naïve cultivator. He's an ancient lich with a single ambition: to slide back into his uninterrupted eternal slumber. But the cacophony of quarreling sects and smug martial artists seems determined to keep him awake.

Undeterred, the sleep-deprived overlord is ready to confront this brave new world. After all, no aspiring deity, no grandiose sect, and certainly no self-righteous martial artist is going to rob him of his beauty sleep.

Nice, easy read

This is a great comfort read with litrpg/progressive fantasy elements…a cozy litrpg? It’s interesting without being suspenseful or stressful so a good palate cleanser.

I just really hated the weird, overperformed laughing, it was like hearing nails on chalk. If it happened less it would have been fine but it’s constant throughout the book. Because of that I’d say it’s worth it if you can get it on sale but I wouldn’t spend a whole credit on it.

Outstanding performance

a goofy book, pretty easy to relax to. Don't expect tense battles, as the main character is basically god. The low stakes and comedy makes it relaxing. The full cast narration is excellent as well, and definitely one of the best things about the book.

Punny as hell!

I loved this book from start to finish. This is the first time listening to this genre and I was hooked from the start. The narrator did a fantastic job and Bone Daddy's corny jokes and laughter will always be stuck in my head! Looking forward to more!!!

Punny Book

Similar to Overlord in concept, but DnD/Cultivation mashup in setting, and the protagonist is more erudite and less of a conquesting pr**k. More lighthearted, a mix of Overlord (Protagonist Situation) and Skeleton Knight in Another World (Protagonist Personality), Endless puns. Amazing narration. Enjoyable book.

Delightful mashup of two genres

Soundbooth theater strikes again with this amazing audiobook of a story seeing one medival fantasy character wake up in a cultivation-centric world. Hilarious misunderstandings and lovable characters abound!

The extra adventure at the end

The description to this book drew me in. It sounded very interesting. Once I got started listening to it, it was nothing like I thought it would be based on the description. But that’s a good thing. This book surprised me. It was so much better than I thought it would be. One of the best books I’ve listened to in a while. The characters and interesting and have very good personalities. The only thank I disliked about this book was Harold’s laugh. But that was only at first, the obnoxious cackle grew on me the longer I listened. And ended with me laughing along with him throughout this book. I would 10/10 suggest listening to it. I only wish it was longer, listen to the book in one day. Guess I’m off to go buy the next book.
