Publisher's Summary

The first audiobook in a brand new series featuring New York Times best-selling author Denise Swanson's beloved Scumble River setting and characters, Dead in the Water is a gripping mystery that won't let you go until the end.

A twister, a kidnapping, and a murder - oh my! Scumble River may never be the same.

For school psychologist Skye Denison, there's certainly no place like home. When a violent tornado devastates her small hometown of Scumble River, she can't see how the community will ever recover - especially since town councilman Zeke Lyons appears to have perished in the twister.

But things get even worse for Skye when her police chief husband, Wally, disappears in the midst of investigating Zeke's death, and evidence arises pointing to foul play. Did Zeke really die in the storm, or was he murdered? And could Wally be next on the criminal's hit list?

So not worth it.

There is nothing redeeming in this book, except the narrator. Kind and loving oil barons, awesome Texas rangers. And then the cute small town. Even if I placed it in a fantasy genre, since that’s where it belongs. It’s a badly written fantasy.

awesome mystery

loved the mystery, but none too fond of the narrator putting on a deep voice for the male characters.

Extremely disappointed probably why it's free

This was such a disappointment. This author is extremely elementary in her writing Bert writing. I was disappointed how she speaks about women and flaunts their bodies to men in her books it was very condescending. We're condescending. Her storyline was incredibly insulting to any readers intelligence readers intelligence and I just had to get through it as fast as possible because once I start a book I finish it. Please do not waste your time .

Couldn't Finish

Advice - If you're going to use a single narrator of one gender, and there's lots of 2 gender dialogue, make certain that they can do both voices. Voice here was cartoonish for the male characters which took me out of the story. Dialogue that was a bit cloying became painful and jarring. The story itslef might have been ok read myself or competently voiced, but the combination of mediocre writing and bad voiceover just became unbearable.

Not enjoying narrator

I am not going to be able to even get through the first chapter because of the deadpan delivery of the reader. Sadly we will have to try a new series.
