About this listen
2022 Audible’s Best in Fantasy
The living cannot be allowed to infect the dead.
Adam Binder has lost what matters most to him. Having finally learned the true identity of the warlock preying on his family, what was supposed to be a final confrontation with the fiend instead became a trap that sent Adam’s beloved Vicente into the realm of the dead, where none living are meant to be.
Bound by debt, oath, and love, Adam blazes his own trail into the underworld to get Vicente back, and to end the threat of the warlock once and for all. But the road to hell is paved with far more than good intentions. Demons are hungry, and ghosts are relentless, and what awaits Adam in the underworld is nothing he is prepared to face.
If that weren’t enough, Adam has one more thing he must do if he and Vicente are to return to the world of the living: find the lost heart of Death herself.

Story
It’s really hard to pretend like life is normal when you’re staring a monster in the eyes, though he’s both tempting and irritating in his human form. I put my days as a hunter behind me, unable to cope with the death and pain anymore, to become an upstanding citizen and for what? To assist Lake, a man who claims he’s not a monster but keeps talking about me like I’m edible and–even worse–wants to woo me?

So disappointing.
This book was an opportunity to show support for the pride - woke - LGBTQ+ crap. It would have been a good story if not for this garbage.

Read the series
This was great, it had a hint of romance, alot of adventure and some of the mystical items I was looking for. The author did a great job of incorporating the fact that the main charater was gay without this being a heavy sexual drama.
I was impressed with the issues that were brought up within family and how they each had to work it through. I was sad that a charater had to die in order to improve the relationship between the brothers but it was necessary to the charaters to where they needed to be.
I appreciated this series it was good.
