As peace returns to Jergen County, Roy fires up his re-election campaign, Jordan breaks out his fishing gear and Urich plans her wedding. The only person disturbing the peace is a window peeper and Murphy, newly promoted to investigations, is hot on his trail. The discovery of a human bone at Mrs. Lambert’s home site shatters the tranquility. Rumors fly when crime scene technicians unearth the complete skeleton. Is there a new killer on the loose or is it an old crime connected to the now defunct dixie mafia?
When it’s learned the skeleton is thousands of years old, things settle until evidence suggests the body came from another planet. Scientists, UFO enthusiasts, new age gurus, and pagans flock to the site, stretching the sheriff’s office’s resources to its limits. Amid this chaos a killer stalks the archeologists excavating the site as they battle over custody of the alien’s body.
Has Jergen County finally achieved critical mass? Will E.T. find a home? And will this turmoil prevent Jordan, Urich, and Murphy from bringing the killer to justice?
