About this listen

An all new full cast duet narrated series in the Mate Games world from USA Today best-selling authors, Meg Anne and K. Loraine. Includes the prequel novella Promised to the Night.

Roslyn Blackthorne is dead. Technically. I faked my death to get out of a loveless marriage, but that was only half the battle. To ensure my vampire duke can never find me, I have to run far and fast enough so he can’t catch me. Because if he does, it’s over. Not just my life—for real this time—but my entire family’s.

So how does the princess of the Blackthorne vampires disappear in a world where every supernatural creature knows who she is? Summon a demon, of course. Pan agrees to keep me hidden, help me start a new life…for a cost. And it’s not my soul he’s after. Oh no, he wants my blood…and my body. But so do they. The shifter twins. The cursed hacker. And, of course, my estranged husband.

Starting over should be easy after my bargain with the demon. New name. New job. New reality in a tiny town where no one would think to search. Welcome to Aurora Springs, Alaska, a sleepy place where everyone is hiding something and nothing ever happens. At least it was…until I arrived and people started dropping like flies.

It looks like I brought my past, and a whole host of other problems, with me. But that’s not a big deal, right? It’s not the end of the world or anything.

WARNING: The Mate Games: Pestilence is a spicy why choose series that is sure to set your…heart…on fire. If you’re not a fan of grumpy dukes with a penchant for pain, purple demons with fancy body parts, nosy hackers with boundary issues, angsty wolf shifters who like to share, sword crossing, and plenty of group activities, this one’s not for you. But if it is…welcome back to The Mate Games, we’ve been waiting for you.

Far better than anticipated

The duet style narration is perfect In this. At first the accents took some getting used to but after awhile they grew on me. The storyline is intriguing and had me engrossed, paired with the romance, humour, and witty banter this is an awesome audiobook.

Sinfully delicious audio

Where do I start! I adored this introduction to the next Mate Games series. Well first and foremost let's tackle the plot and then I'll give you the lowdown on what you're really here for... the men.

The story opens in middle of no where Alaska with the adorable Rosie on the run from her dark and twisty husband. Her only option to protect her family from her darling husband's family is for her to disappear. No one can know that she's still alive and the only person she knows that could help her is the grumpy hacker - Asher. And he's not very happy to find her shivering on his front door mat.

After the first Mate Games series you'd be forgiven for thinking "How can Kim and Meg do a second Mate Games and give it an entirely different feel the second time around?" - The Men that's how! To start with in Deal With A Demon this collection of suitors are on a spectrum of goodness... veering dramatically from prince of darkness to angelic saviour.

You have Pan, a literal Arc Demon, he's purple, with horns, a prehensile tail and a thing for degradation. While he may be planning to destroy our heroine he may like her more than he realises.
Gavin, the deliciously dark vampire known as the Duke of Tears. He is our sadist dying to unlock and explore Rosie's inner masochist. Now she's unlocked his insatiable for her he will never let her go.
Asher is our resident tortured human who won't let himself get close to anyone. Having been betrayed and cursed by a witch he avoids most people but he can't keep his eyes off Rosie. Quite literally - he's a voyeur. And don't let's forget he also has thing for...
Remi, the identical twin wolf shifter. Remi is our playful golden retriever. His energy and positivity are addictive and explain why Rosie adores him and Asher can't keep himself from taking what he wants from our beloved Remi. His favourite term of endearment is "Hey Baby Girl"(swoons in feral romance reader).
Which leaves Ben, Remi's twin and the grumpy cinnamon roll who has trouble finding his words but when he does... he'll melt your heart. He may also have a desire to explore primal and like being called daddy...

This was a wonderful introduction to the next Mate Games. The first half of the book is lighthearted, engaging and does well to introduce you to the characters that weren't in the last series. It's full of banter and gives you a chance to bond with our new heroes and heroines. You need this breather after the chaos of the end of the last Mate Games and before the next apocalypse shows up to derail everything.

I listened to this on audiobook and the duet style casting is wonderful.

James Joseph: Pan
John Hartley: Gavin
Jacob Morgan: Remi
J.F. Harding: Ben
Teddy Hamilton: Asher
Stella Hunter: Rosie

I did find that I had to listen to one of the narrators at a different speed to the others as their pacing was noticeably different. I get that this was a creative choice to emphasise the sinister timbre of is character but I prioritised story pacing over that so would listen to him at 1.7x where as I listened to the other narrators on 1.2x.

This series is perfection

Another amazing audio/book by Kim Loraine and Meg Anne. I wasn’t sure it could get any better after the first series in the May Games world but this has proved me wrong. I can’t decide who I like most, Ben or Remi. I might have to keep both of the twins… this book really has everything if you like fantasy, steam and humour. Top Notch. Now onto the next one…

I can't wait for the next book!

I fell in love with Meg Anne and K. Loraine after listening to their Mate Games series, and I am super excited about this series! You don't necessarily have to have listened to the Mate Games, but there are a few references that round out the story a bit better if you have. A bit of a cliff hanger ... I can't wait to get my hands on the 2nd book. Reverse harem, and +++ heat! Such a great blend of romance and paranormal. Love the characters overall. I'm a bit more attached to Asher and the Mercer twins, but that may shift as we get to know everyone better through the series.

The casting and duet narration of this audio book is spectacular! Absolutely worth the credit. I will probably be listening to it a few times. The cast have amazing chemistry! Stella Hunter's voice is so versatile. I could listen to her all day. Jacob Morgan, Teddy Hamilton and J.F. Harding are perfection with their own trademark flirty, sexy smolder. I really loved the banter between the three. I first discovered James Joseph from The Mate Games and loved his Noah. While I know it's he that voices Pan, the delivery is so different (from The Mate Games) and fits Pan's character so well. I think I am just super impressed that the same voice somehow embodied such a different character so perfectly! John Hartley is new to me, and I am now a fan! What a delightful British voice for such a moody and broody Gavin.

I had a lot of fun trying to figure out which narrator was portraying which secondary character. Any chance you could let the listeners know who portrayed whom in the credits, or on the book's webpage please?!? Super impressed with all the different accents and nuances the cast brought to all of the characters in this story!
