About this listen
The first audiobook to validate the meaningful dreams and visions that bring comfort as death nears.
Christopher Kerr is a hospice doctor. All of his patients die. Yet, he has cared for thousands of patients who, in the face of death, speak of love and grace. Beyond the physical realities of dying are unseen processes that are remarkably life-affirming. These include dreams that are unlike any regular dream. Described as "more real than real", these end-of-life experiences resurrect past relationships, meaningful events, and themes of love and forgiveness; they restore life's meaning and mark the transition from distress to comfort and acceptance.
Drawing on interviews with over 1,400 patients and more than a decade of quantified data, Dr. Kerr reveals that pre-death dreams and visions are extraordinary occurrences that humanize the dying process. He shares how his patients' stories point to death as not solely about the end of life, but as the final chapter of humanity's transcendence. Kerr's audiobook also illuminates the benefits of these phenomena for the bereaved, who find solace in seeing their loved ones pass with a sense of calm closure.
Beautifully written, with astonishing real-life characters and stories, this audiobook is at its heart a celebration of our power to reclaim the dying process as a deeply meaningful one. Death Is but a Dream is an important contribution to our understanding of medicine's and humanity's greatest mystery.

Story
Your autonomic nervous system is responsible for the constant but mostly subconscious communication between your brain and body. When you experience stress, anxiety, or trauma, your nervous system formulates responses to keep you alive. But you can also become trapped in survival mode if you’re consistently exposed to unsafe environments, toxic relationships, or destructive thought patterns. Mind-body practitioners Jen Mann and Karden Rabin now provide the first in-depth look at nervous system regulation, somatic therapy, Polyvagal theory, the vagus nerve, and the mind-body connection.

Like a book, life is not finished until we arrive at the end
This book articulated patients who were near the end of life and in hospice care and examined dreams, or perhaps visions that the dying patient had and examined what’s the meaning possibly could be derived from deathbed visions. It seems that love is the force that intertwines after life. from birth to death, and perhaps beyond the time we refer to death. The author did a wonderful job at writing a book at arms length from religious connotation and emphasized visions his patients had from the standpoint of his patients viewpoint.
I would highly recommend this book is a good source of information of how life is the story of love, tragedy, and triumph. Often where adversity can be turned into recognition of mistakes made in the wider circle of life are often our greatest teaching tool, and forgiving those who hurt us, frees us from the bondage of those who trespass us.

Gut Wrenching Emotional Journey
Absolutely the best book I have ever read. So eloquently written and deeply awakening.
It delves into end of life and death and yet is more about living with empathy and kindness and compassion.
You will need tissues to get through it!
