About this listen
Read by the author with exclusive commentary.
Successful business entrepreneur Allie Casazza shares her powerful and proven method for clearing the clutter in our minds by first clearing the clutter in our homes, the place where transformation begins.
When Allie Casazza first became a mom, she found herself struggling to make it through each day. She battled fatigue, depression, and the unsettling feeling that she didn't have what it took to do "this mom thing" well. When she realized the root of her burden was the overwhelm of physical clutter in her home, she got intentional about what took up her space and time. The path she carved brought her and her family greater contentment and more abundant living, and she shares it in her much-anticipated first book, Declutter Like a Mother.
Allie has built a massive following—and a multimillion-dollar online business—based on her proven family-oriented approach to living more simply. Her mission is to empower other moms to start making real, lasting change. In her winsome, relatable style, combining humor and a lighthearted kick in the pants, Declutter Like a Mother motivates listeners to start taking action. Once referred to as an "in-your-face Marie Kondo for millennial moms", Allie's advice is actionable, at times irreverent, and already has proven to be life-changing.

If you’re struggling to stay on top of your to-do list, you probably have a good reason: anxiety, fatigue, depression, ADHD, or lack of support. For therapist KC Davis, the birth of her second child triggered a stress-mess cycle. The more behind she felt, the less motivated she was to start. She didn’t fold a single piece of laundry for seven months. One life-changing realization restored her sanity—and the functionality of her home: You don’t work for your home; your home works for you.

Story
Nate and Kaley Klemp were both successful in their careers, consulting for high-powered companies around the world. Their work as mindfulness and leadership experts, however, often fell to the wayside when they came home in the evening, only to end up fighting about fairness in their marriage. They believed in a model where each partner contributed equally and fairness ruled, but, in reality, they were finding that balance near impossible to achieve. From this frustration, they developed the idea of the 80/80 marriage, a new model for balancing career, family, and love.

Just a pitch for her expensive program
Full disclosure; I returned the book 45 mins in. The whole book is just over 4 hours. While Allie is very motivating the book is actually just a pitch for her expensive program. I was hoping for the actual steps to purging, not the convincing. I follow her on her podcast and have even purchased one of her smaller programs. But even a paid program is just another opportunity to pitch the more expensive programs. If you’re new to Allie it may be good for the “why” but I’m already motivated to do the work, now I need the “how”.

A misogynistic waste of time and money
This book perpetuates the idea that men don't need to be partners. They can add to the problem and aren't responsible for the solution. Women are miserable but heaven forbid we have a partner and don't have to be their parents too. This is a bandaid situation to a much bigger problem. The authors solution is "You do you", If you want it, keep it, If you can use it, keep it. There's no guidelines or anything insightful. Just, you do you, over and over. Coupled with misogyny, this book is a complete waste of money for any woman with a shred of self worth.
