This book is incredibly cleverly crafted from beginning to end. I did not expect the ending and it was full of twists and turns and kept me guessing throughout. I’ve become a loyal fan of William Landay. The narrator is top notch. He is able to voice so many characters! I highly recommend this book!

There were some parts that were a little repetitive and boring but that ending made it all worth it. I cried for the first time in my life listening to a book. I almost want to listen to it all over again.

Maybe projecting but loved the way this book pushed the dynamic of one partner being mildly overreactive/anxious and the other refusing to acknowledge issues/risk to the absolute worst case scenario. Both parents were a little more stoic than is realistic but in the way that it is almost a fable, it really worked. Bravo!

Love the actors in the show, but the novel is better as it gives a more interesting telling of the characters and how their stories unfold. The best in the last third of the book. Love that the narrator is a former prosecutor and the defendant's father, which was helped by the author being a former prosecutor. Gave a very interesting perspective. Glad I read it before watching the show, but made the changes they made in the show more frustrating to watch. But the actors played their parts well!
