About this listen
It was called the Great Awakening, when magickal kind returned to our world. They live among us now, renting apartments, laboring in the workforce, and paying taxes. Ares is a vampire and doing very well for himself in the modern world. Between teaching at the local university and assisting a paranormal investigator, things couldn't be better. But when a woman dies mysteriously in her own home, the question isn't who killed her, but what.
Alexandria is alone in the world. Having lived a complicated life surrounded by mystery and tragedy, she's quickly pulled into the world of paranormal investigating. Can she walk the border between the worlds of man and magick or will she become lost to it?
Vampires. Witches. Ghosts. Demons. Fairies and Gods.
Detective Docherty and the Demon's Tear is an all new urban fantasy with a paranormal mystery twist.

for an author's first book, pretty darn good
I enjoyed this book quite a lot. Burned through it over the course of a day while I worked. I really liked the characters, they all had very distinct personalities, strengths and flaws, and they were "humanized" very well. I really got the sense that they were "real."
I gotta admit, I felt the voice acting was honestly superb. Accents, tones, inflection, it ALL very VERY on point.
This book was a great supernatural crime adventure (adventure as in the experience, not the genre). I enjoyed the interweaving of the lore into the story and all the nuances of modern day society with supernatural and extraordinary creatures. I will definitely be getting the next audiobook in this series as soon as it's released.
Hope anyone reading this enjoys it as much as I did.
