About this listen

From the Wall Street Journal best-selling author of 44 Chapters About 4 Men (inspiration for the Netflix Original series Sex/Life) comes a dark Mafia romance steeped in Irish folklore.

I can’t remember anymore if my grandfather’s eyes were blue or green, but I’ll never forget the way they wrinkled at the corners when he laughed at one of his own jokes. Or the way they sparkled with mischief when he told me tales about the magical creatures that dwelled in the forest behind his humble Irish sheep farm—shy fairies who liked to eat tea biscuits, cruel witches who liked to eat children, a moody lake spirit with a taste for expensive gifts.

As a child, I believed every fantastical word. But when he warned me about the mute boy who also lurked in those woods, the one the priest had declared to be the spawn of Satan himself, I refused to listen. Kellen wasn’t evil. He was kind, and beautiful, and special, and hurting. He was my friend. And with every summer I spent stolen away with him in those enchanted woods, he grew to become so much more.

But when I return to Glenshire as an adult, grieving and engaged to someone else, all those legends quickly morph into nightmares.

My grandfather had been right about everything, especially the boy.

If only I had listened.

I mean WHOA

This story had me hooked from the start- two broken people who inspire each other to heal and love (plus a lot of heat and a little fairy magic and Irish countryside charm? Um YES PLEASE) The performance from both leads was incredible!! Made it feel so real and raw.

phenomenal

The narrators could not have been better picked to bring this brilliant story to life! The story itself was magic and I loved every second of it. They're childhood connection and fight to be together, learning each other and everything in between was perfection. Eric Nolan is my new fave male narrator, I could listen to his voice forever.

Created an addict

Listened to this with a friend who was so convinced that audiobooks suck. Well, she ate her words and her cheeks pinked all the way through this story. I can't wait for part 2. This was an amazing story and I'm so ready for the second half.

A great dark mafia romance!

Wow! This has been on my TBR list for a while now and I’m so glad I finally gave it a listen. The way Kellen and Darby are so beautifully broken but also able to find space for each other had my heart.

The suspense aspects of the story were great and I couldn’t stop listening! I devoured this in a single day. The narrators were both perfect and I’ll now be combing through Audible to see what else is available by them.

I can’t wait to read the next release in this duet, The Devil Himself, when it releases in August.

Best Male Narrator

Sample sold me. Narration on this is A+

Story was well written. Different from what I usually listen too, but I’m super happy I listened.

Gripping, deep and a well rounded read.

Highly recommend giving it a go

just wow.

I absolutely loved this book! Kellen and Darby have this unbreakable timeless ❤️ bond. They will battle everything and everyone that tries to tear them apart. This book is filled with love, and pain, anger, sacrifice and even a sprinkle of magic. Every fight, every battle, every scar, along with every touch, every kiss, every caress, I felt to my core. The narration- I can't even! Eric Nolan and Elizabeth Klett brought these two to life and ripped out my heart so many times in the process.

Started out hopeful…

This book started out so promising! Then when Darby and Kellen reunited as adults the storyline just fell flat for me.
Eric Nolan was fantastic as Kellen- he’s quickly becoming one of my favourite male narrators. Elizabeth Klett was not my favourite as Darby- she sounded a bit childish/juvenile and her “male” voice was hard to listen to at times.
