About this listen
Célian Laurent. Manhattan royalty. Notorious playboy. Heir to a media empire...and my new boss.
I could have impressed him, if not for last month's unforgettable one-night stand.
I left it with more than orgasms and a pleasant memory - namely, his wallet.
Now he's staring me down like I'm the dirt under his Italian loafers, and I'm supposed to take it.
But the thing about being Judith "Jude" Humphry is I have nothing to lose.
Brooklyn girl.
Infamously quirky.
Heir to a stack of medical bills and a tattered couch.
When he looks at me from across the room, I see the glint in his eyes, and that makes us rivals.
He knows it.
So do I.
Every day in the newsroom is a battle.
Every night in his bed, war.
But it's my heart at stake, and I fear I'll be raising the white flag.

Great novel
Initially when I began this audiobook (I listen to audiobooks while working) I couldn’t get attached to it due to grace’s voice. (No disrespect) however, I love anything LJ Shen writes, so I have it another go and along with the story, I appreciated Grace’s voice as Jude.
As usual, LJ knocked it out of the park with this one and I became enthralled with both characters. I adored Jude for standing her ground on so many things and celian... well... I once dated someone like celian. attitude, personality and the way he guarded his heart.
Those types of men may come across as assholes and granted they are but once you get their love... that’s it. They’re yours.
As long as she continues to write her novels the way she does, I will always be a reader/listener.

Sexy, Charming & Hilarious
I’d read this before listening to the audiobook and absolutely loved it (my review of the story can be found here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2672848813)! I still enjoyed the audiobook but there were just some small things in the narration that bothered me.
I usually like Grace Grant as a narrator but I felt her voice was too mature to be that of a 23 year old in 2018(/2019). Granted Jude is rather mature and wise beyond her years but the voice just didn’t fit the character in my opinion (but this could also be because I had a voice for Jude in my head since I’d previously read the book). I really liked Jacob Morgan as Célian but I found at times he was just reading (particularly towards the end of his parts), but he did do a great job of voicing Célian’s dry humour and sarcasm (loved that)!
I also noted that pronunciations of names changed throughout the book (i.e. Mathias was pronounced MAT-tee-us at the beginning by Jacob Morgan then Mat-TEE-us during some parts towards the end and Célian was pronounced Say-lee-on by Grace Grant at the beginning and then See-lee-on towards the end). Those inconsistency annoyed me. But other than that I still enjoyed the story and it’s heart-tweaking and laugh out loud moments!

A well played twist in the end
This was the first novel by L.J. Shen that I'd purchased in audiobook format. The first half of this audiobook wasn't as interesting as I'd hoped. Shen's style (in this novel) is heavy on descriptors, but her sense of humor made me laugh out loud quite a few times. It was this cheeky humor of Shen's that kept me going. The second half of the book really pulls the story together. I thought the twist at the end was brilliant. As for the narration, Jacob Morgan and Grace Grant do a great job of narrating this story.
