Publisher's Summary

Alex Kingston reads her brand-new novel featuring River Song, from the worlds of Doctor Who.

1939, New York. Private-eye Melody Malone is hired to find a stolen ruby, the Eye of Horus. The ruby might hold the secret to the location of Cleopatra's tomb - but everyone who comes into contact with it dies.

Can Melody escape the ruby's curse?

1939, New York. River Song, author of the Melody Malone mysteries, is forced to find a reality-altering weapon, the Eye of Horus - but everyone who comes into contact with it dies. River doesn't believe in curses - but is she wrong?

From the top-security confines of Stormcage to the barbarism of first-century Egypt, River battles to find the Eye of Horus before its powers are used to transform the universe. To succeed, she must team up with a most unlikely ally - her own fictional alter ego, Melody. And together they must solve another mystery: is fiction changing into fact - or is fact changing into fiction?

Fabulous. No spoilers.

This was everything I could’ve hoped in a River Song/Melody Malone novel. The audiobook was perfectly read by the author herself Alex Kingston. Time travel. 1939 detective/mystery novel. Ancient Egypt. Appearances by few familiar characters.

River Song!

For Doctor Who Fans! A stand alone book, but you have to have watched the series to understand the characters. This novel definitely has the snap and sass you'd expect from a River Song episode.

The plot is like a complicated Steven Moffat episode, very "timey wimey".

My review.

I loved this book, when I heard that Alex Kingston was writing a book about her character from Doctor Who, I got supper excited, because I love delving into the Doctor Who universe any chance I get. This was an awesome story from start to finish. It was get getting to see some of my favourite characters also in the story; how ever brief it was. I can’t wait to read more books by Alex Kingston.

An exciting tale brought to stunning life.

Alex Kingston brings her beloved character’s, River Song and Melody Malone, to stunning life.

In this fast paced, and detail driven romp through time and across the galaxy, Alex gives the readers and listeners a greater understanding of who River Song is.

Alex’s performance as she narrates her tale is full of life and rich in the range of emotions she delivers.

Thank you, Alex, for a tale I’ve listened to repeatedly and always find new things moments that bring me joy.
