Publisher's Summary
Highly sensitive people - or empaths - see life through the eyes of compassion and caring. They were born that way. As a result, they carry a tremendous amount of inner light. But they’re also the favored prey of “vampires” who feed off empaths’ energy and disrupt their lives on every level - physical, emotional, and financial.
In Dodging Energy Vampires, Christiane Northrup, MD, draws on the latest research in this exciting new field, along with stories from her global community and her own life, to explore the phenomenon of energy vampires and show us how we can spot them, dodge their tactics, and take back our own energy. You’ll delve into the dynamics of vampire-empath relationships and discover how vampires use others’ energy to fuel their own dysfunctional lives. Once you recognize the patterns of behavior that mark these relationships, you’ll be empowered to identify the vampires in your life too.
In this audiobook, Dr. Northrup opens up a toolbox full of techniques you can use to leave these harmful relationships behind; heal from the darkness they’ve cast over your mind, body, and spirit; and let your own light shine. In the end, you may find yourself healthier, happier, wealthier, and more vibrant than you ever believed possible.

In chapters that blend personal stories and practical exercises with the latest research on health and aging, Dr. Northrup lays out the principles of ageless living, from rejecting processed foods to releasing stuck emotions, from embracing our sensuality to connecting deeply with our Divine Source. Explaining that the state of our health is dictated far more by our beliefs than by our biology, she works to shift our perceptions about getting older and show us what we are entitled to expect from our later years—no matter what our culture tries to teach us to the contrary

Story
Narcissistic abuse was originally defined as a specific form of emotional abuse of children by narcissistic parents, but more recently the term has been applied more broadly to refer to any abuse by a narcissist (someone that who admires their own attributes), in particular in adult-to-adult relationships the abuse may be mental, physical, financial, spiritual or sexual. If you have been through an abusive relationship with someone who has Narcissistic Personality Disorder, you will know that no one understands what you are going through unless they have personally experienced it.

Story
Ever since medical school, Dr. Christiane Northrup has been guided by an essential truth about the way our bodies, minds, and souls are intertwined. It's the same truth Edgar Cayce expressed in this famous formula: The spirit is life. The mind is the builder. The physical is the result. When we don't grasp this - when we view our bodily well-being in isolation - life can devolve into constant worry about our health and constant battling to make our bodies "behave".

"Having empathy means our heart goes out to another person in joy or pain," says Dr. Judith Orloff. "But for empaths, it goes much further. We actually feel others' emotions, energy, and physical symptoms in our own bodies, without the usual defenses that most people have." The Empath's Survival Guide is an invaluable resource for empaths who want to develop coping skills in a high-stimulus world while embracing their gifts of intuition, compassion, creativity, and spiritual connection.

Life Saving
So so grateful to have come across this book. It cleared the fog in my head for years. Now I can identify the energy vampires very quickly and see my behaviour patterns while interacting with them. Being an empath, I am also used to giving away my power without thinking. But with practice and awareness I believe I can shine brightly from now on. Thank you Dr. Northrup !

Hidden gems
AT first She seemed consumed with too many emotions to give a realistic view. She seemed jaded, like her experiences had given her an angry view. The language was hard for me to get over but it all ends up making sense. I just kept listening. Eventually, I related. Saw things in my life more clearly and even cried at a few parts... realizing that I was stuck in the very story she was telling. I searched for more of their books right away, well worth my money.

Ineresting and confusing (to me)
I originally chose this book because I thought it may explain something about toxic relationships. Which, it does. The part that confused me is, what if both people in the relationship are experiencing symptoms as described in the book... Can there be two vampires?
This book left me with more questions than answers is all I mean.
Overall, it's a good book.

Love this as it hit home!
I loved this audio book as it was so close to home for me and my husband. As soon as I started listening to it, I recognized my 1st ex husband and my 2nd ex husband as well as my daughter. I am married to a NON Vampire now and he has had the same experience in his first 2 marriages. We are going to do the clearning together as I am a Reiki worker and do Emotion Code healing and Body Code healing. This just fits right in with my life! Thanks so much!! I loved it and will listen to it again and again! Gwen Sanche Cypress County, Alberta Canada

Informative but tad projectiony from authors ego
Very glad I purchased, very informative. I think though that the word emotional vampire is in itself a bad label to give people, it seems like its been created from a negative experience and now used as a sweeping word to condemn certain people. doesnt feel healthy to use or say it. Feels slightly ignorant and malicious to coin a phrase like that. I can imagine a hurt or trauma riddled empath saying it but not a happy one.
