When Cammie Morgan arrives at her friend Macey's five star hotel for the Democratic National Convention - where Macey's father is about to receive the vice presidential nomination - she thinks she's in for an exciting end to her summer break. annoying reader

These books are not masterpieces (they lean towards melodrama and have plenty of plot holes), but they’re engaging and good fun; I’ve read them all and continue to enjoy them. But man, I can’t stand this reader. Her delivery is incredibly whiny and always sounds anxious/concerned, as if the contents of every sentence were uniquely shocking. Takes all the humour out of the writing. It’s too bad because her voices for individual characters aren’t all bad, and it’s clear this isn’t her exact natural voice that she’s using to narrate from Cami’s perspective. Unfortunately, she seems to do all the audiobooks in the same style. I listen to these when I’m desperate but I find it tough to get past her sugar-sweet whine. If it doesn’t grate your nerves as much as mine, though, give these books a shot.
