About this listen

The number one New York Times best-selling and Edgar Award-winning authors are back with a new a new novel featuring Kendra Michaels, hired gun for the CIA and FBI.

Kendra Michaels is reluctant to help the FBI with the most recent case they've brought to her...until she hears the details: The body was found just blocks away from Kendra's condo. The man was carrying an envelope with Kendra's name on it, and inside was an SD card with what appears to be an innocuous video of a wedding reception. And just one week before the attempted delivery of this mysterious video, the groom in the video was murdered.

As the body count rises, Kendra joins forces with private investigator Jessie Mercado and agent-for-hire Adam Lynch as they discover that each victim played a part in convicting a serial killer years before. Someone has clearly taken up his mantle to exact a sadistic form of vengeance. But who is it? A family member? An old partner? Or is it possible that the wrong man was convicted and the serial killer himself has returned to continue his sick spree?

Another awesome book from the mother and son Johansen team

As a long time reader of Iris Johansen from the late 70’s when she was writing for the “Loveswept” line I have enjoyed watching the talented progression of her writing. When her son joined with her, the mysteries just became better with time. The Kendra Michaels series has for me been a series which once started are difficult to put down even at 3:00 am. You just have to continue to see what will happen. I highly recommend this series. #Audible1

Narration got weird at times

It was like they tried to make derricks voice sound like Derrick was actually a woman and Derricks voice was just cringey. I was really disappointed as I typically like this narrator

Meh

The psychoanalysis of each other is quite tiresome. I get the idea of push pull but this is excessive

Kendra’s character annoys me...

I’m all for strong women but the main females in Johansen’s book always seem to go overboard and become reckless and act as if they are invincible while being these overly dramatic empaths. I love Jessi’s character.
I also find it abnormal for Kendra to be a therapist, but then acts like this hovering mom when it comes to Olivia.
