Publisher's Summary

The Grey Wardens are heroes across Thedas once again: The Archdemon has been defeated with relative ease, and the scattered darkspawn are being driven back underground. The Blight is over. Or so it seems.

Valya, a young elven mage recently recruited into the Wardens, has been tasked with studying the historical record of previous Blights in order to gain insight into newly reported and disturbing darkspawn phenomena. Her research into the Fourth Blight leads her to an encoded reference scrawled in the margins of an ancient map and to the hidden diary of Issenya, one of the last of the fabled griffon riders. As the dark secrets buried in Isseyna's story unfold, Valya begins to question everything she thought she knew about the heroic Grey Wardens.

Good

Hopefully ending. Parts of it were kinda hard to follow. But really good otherwise.

A tragic story, with a hopeful ending.

Narrator was smooth and soothing the entire time, but also strong when needed. Been a fan of Dragon age for a long time, and I honestly think this is my favourite of the series. It's beautiful, and sad, and powerful, and I can't wait to see where it leads.

Tip: don't listen to this while working, it gets beautiful emotional.

Something a little different!

This narrator does a wonderful job breathing life into the dialogue of this story. Legitimately a wonderful listening experience with the pressure of battle being heard in each line delivered. Really well done.

The story itself is a nice breath of something different and it's probably because it's in the hands of someone new writing.
I really enjoyed the perspective of the 4th blight being mingled with the current timeline the way it was.
I found myself actually in tears near the end which was unexpected.

A 2 for 1 deal!

Technically 3 stories in 1, this epic tale shows us the history of Thedas and the Grey Warden order (Garahel), his sister's secret heroism and shame, and the future of the same (the young mage in present day Thedas, who is destined for greatness, too). Beautifully intertwined, each story is well written and immersive, and leaves you with hope for the future of the story.
