About this listen
Former detective superintendent Bob Hoon has had one hell of a year.
After being repeatedly beaten, shot at, blown-up, and tortured, Hoon is looking forward to spending a quiet Christmas drinking heavily in front of the TV, while pointedly ignoring the older sister who has invaded his home.
The world, however, has other plans.
When a routine trip to an Inverness shopping center is interrupted by a squad of heavily armed Santas, Hoon, his sister, and an old army colleague find themselves trapped alongside several hundred terrified hostages.
With so much potential for bloodshed, the police gathering outside the center can only wait, watch, and try to negotiate with the terrorists within.
But patience has never been Hoon’s strong point.
And so, if he and everyone else in the center are going to make it home for Christmas, Hoon is left with only one choice.
He’s going to Die Hard the **** out of this thing.
Eastgate is the fourth explosive novel in the Robert Hoon Thrillers series by best-selling author JD Kirk and is perfect for fans of Lee Child, Robert Ludlum, and angry, middle-aged Scottish men doing implausible things.

Story
From the outside, Glenfarach looks like a quaint, sleepy village, nestled in the heart of Cairngorms National Park, but things aren't what they seem. The place is thick with security cameras, and there's a strict nine o'clock curfew, because Glenfarach is the last safe haven for people who've served their sentences but can't be safely released into the general population. For Detective Constable Edward Reekie, this was supposed to be a simple delivery job—drive his new boss up to HMP Grampian and collect Marky Bishop, take him to Glenfarach, then head back home again.

Can not put it into words
JD Kirk does it again! Angus King brings it to life. Angus is a one-man full cast. Another great story from Mr. Kirk, couldn't stop. listening. The only thing wrong with the book is that it ended. Keep.them coming Barry and never change the brilliant narrator.

x 10 better than Die Hard
I have loved the whole Hoon series and this finished it off with a bang. I loved the Logan series but this is a bit more edgy and violent in true Hoon fashion. I think Die Hard has competition if this ever gets made into a movie. I hope it all comes to a series at some point. Casting Hoon would be ...interesting!

This was my second time through both series. The combination of the masterful writing and the very best narrator is genius. I really can’t say enough!

Bob Hoon is the bomb.
As brutally violent some of it is, I laugh out loud at all of his comments. The narrator plays him to a T. Berta is the best. And Iris doesn't disappoint. I look forward to the next one!
