Publisher's Summary

Corporal David Cohen thought he’d left war behind.

He was wrong.

The Terran Coalition faces repeated and brutal attacks from the repressive League of Sol. To defend his home planet, David trades his dream of becoming a rabbi for a battlefront in the far reaches of space. When particle beams fly, his courage under fire brings quick promotion. But in the lulls between battles when he must confront his soul, David finds a different enemy: the ghosts of those killed under his command.

Yet in war, it’s kill or be killed - and the enemy shows no mercy.

David must square the tenets of his faith against his responsibility to crew and country. If he fails in his command, billions face enslavement by a ruthless regime. Now it’s an all-out fight for the galaxy’s freedom.

Because a man’s greatest foe lies within.

If you love Babylon 5, Safehold, and Destroyermen, you must try Echoes of War, a military sci-fi series that will take you to the heart of duty, sacrifice, and the unseen scars of those who serve.

Includes the first three novels in the Echoes of War series:

  • Fight the Good Fight
  • Strong and Courageous
  • So Fight I

Impelling

The author does such an amazing job at introducing and decoupling charaters that it feels like you personally know each one of them. In novels with so many characters it's easy to forget details about some and others all together. The author does such an amazing job at writing dialogue that is funny, completing, and spiritual. It makes you relate to each personality he developes during the story.

The different regions are shown with grace and respect and each charaters struggles with their own morals, religion or not, is very touching!

Very bad. Persecution porn.

This story is religious persecution porn. It is also very poorly written.

Setup: hundreds of years ago earth government unified then promptly abolished all religion and made it illegal to practice. The religious escaped to the stars to "believe in god however they wanted".

Despite the obvious farce of religion being around still while we are colonizing planets, the writer of this bag of sewer scrapings couldn't understand continuity if it hit them in the face in book form with the most apt definitions and examples of the concept.

I couldn't make it more than 30 mins in to this piece of garbage before I had to shut it down and return it.

Other than the extremely heavy god nonsense, this is how bad the writing is:

"Oh no, power armor. Our entire unit doesnt stand a chance against it, even if we somehow manage to defeat it there will be many more behind it"

Points tiny little laser pistol at it and cuts its head off in milliseconds. None follow.

This book is literally what you would get if that crazy guy on the corner with the sandwich board who constantly raves about jesus while shaking a cup full of pencils read a bad scifi story and thought " I can do that".

100% irredeemable garbage. I have returned it and still feel ripped off. Save your credit unless you want to listen to a bad story of mostly god babble for hours.
