About this listen

One of Jane Austen's most popular novels. Arrogant, self-willed, and egotistical, Emma is her most unusual heroine.

Queen Juliet Strikes Again!

I love this story about snobby Emma and her realization that maybe she's not absolutely right all the time. Juliet gives life to this wonderful Austen novel and makes it something I can listen to again and again. #Audible1

The Perfect Novwl

Professor John Mullen, Austen scholar, deems Emma to be the perfect novel. How could I disagree, especially when performed by Juliet Stevenson? She appeared as the ultimate Mrs Elton in the 1996 film version of the novel and is the “Fussy Gussy” to which all others must be compared.

Emma is set in the English village of Highbury in the early 1800s, and tells the story of Emma Woodbouse, a rich young woman whose misplaced confidence in her matchmaking abilities results in several romantic misadventures.

How Juliette changed her voice and style to illustrate each of the characters.

Hands down the best audio version of Emma. It feels as though her interpretation strongly influenced my favorite movie and mini-series adaptations of the book and its characters.

A Must Read Classic

Jane Austen does an excellent job at making you dislike flaws in people’s characters. Emma is an anti heroine and is written so well, that countless spin-offs have been made.

Entertaining and Fun

Perhaps Jane Austen's funniest and warmest novel is beautifully brought to life by Juliet Stevenson's expert performance. Juliet is hilarious in the 1996 movie version too - Enjoy!
