A satisfying but disjointed conclusion

This 3rd book in the Exile trilogy is only faintly linked to the first two; an unspecified amount of time has passed and the only point of reference is the ship itself.
That said, the relationships, social structures, conflicts, etc. are very well written, and the narration by Stefan Rudnicki is, as always, superb.

Compelling. Exciting. Wonderful.

It is fitting that the final volume of the series is the best. To be clear, as with books one and two, this story stands on its own. The first two can serve as context but rally have no meaningful impact. So you can just get this one and you won't feel like you're missing anything.

The story is very exciting, with moments of real intensity. It explores themes of knowledge vs belief, manipulation vs loyalty and others. But the listener isn't fed any life lessons or moralizing. In this book themes are there to serve the plot not indoctrinate the reader.

It was a wonderfully entertaining ride.
