About this listen

Newly elected President Jack Spiers's presidency is rocked from the very beginning, and he's working furiously to keep the world from falling apart. Between terrorism attacks ripping apart Europe, Russia's constant posturing and aggression, and the quagmire of the Middle East, Jack is struggling to keep his campaign promise - to work toward a better, safer world.

For Special Agent Ethan Reichenbach, Jack is just another president, the third in 12 years. With Jack's election, he's been promoted, and now he's running the presidential detail, which puts him side by side with Jack daily. He's expecting another stuffed suit and an arrogant DC politician, but Jack shocks him with his humor and humanity.

There are rules against a Secret Service agent and one of their protectees developing a friendship - big rules. Besides, Jack is straight as a ruler, and a widower, and Ethan has always avoided falling for straight men. Ethan keeps his distance, but Jack draws him in, like gas to a naked flame, and it's a lure he isn't strong enough to turn away from.

Contains mature themes.

Thrilling with insane amounts of pining!

🌹🌹New Review! Enemies of the State (Executive Office #1) 🎧by Tal Bauer as narrated by John Solo

This is like my 3rd time reading, but first time I’m doing a proper review. It was one of the first MM series I fell in love with and John Solo can do NO wrong imo. I love his narrating.

This series is equal parts insanely well crafted geopolitical spy thriller and mushy mm slowburn romance 🥹

Newly minted President Jack Spires is in office and already things are afoot in the Middle East, China and Russia. Spies are plotting plots and already everyone is SUS.

Throughout it all, Jack quickly feels isolated and weird and it takes the usually icy Ethan (head secret service guy) to break protocol and give in to make the president more comfortable, joking with him, getting the secret service guys to work out with him, running with him…

Now if he, Ethan, finds himself TOTALLY crushing on the TOTALLY straight™️ president then that’s totally his prerogative.

Except it isn’t one sided. Previously card carrying str8 boy Jack Spires is attached to his new bff Ethan and he keeps inviting him over for secret baseball game watching at the residence and games of pool… and he just loves to tease the giant bear of a man, but it’s just teasing right? Until it isn’t.

Ethan decided to take the leap and kiss Jack and rock their worlds.

After some uncomfortable come to Jesus moments for Jack and some VERY interesting research on the White House computers, he decides to try to win Ethan’s affection back.

But even though they might be happy playing lovers and bfs for like 2.5 seconds, Geopolitics call upon Jack and he travels to Nairobi where the CIA’s intel was VERY wrong and shiz hits the fan.

💣💥💀🪦

Ethan is MIA and presumed dead and Jack is in hysterics. Tal Bauer, thine middle name is WHUMP! and you do it well sir, kudos!

So after A LOT of Jack Ryan CIA rescue op shenanigans, Ethan is saved and returned to the US and jack’s arms.

There’s some career fallout for their shenanigans™️ but they do celebrate by taking their relationship to the next level and making the secret service their “Seggs supply” mules. 🤣 and they end HFN

SO GOOD

The romance

I really enjoyed the unfolding of the romance between Jack and Ryan. It was unbearable tantalizing.
